The Jets finally are getting healthy in time for rematch against Patriots

When the Jets played the Patriots last month in New England, they hardly put up a fight. The bitter rivals are set to meet again Monday night, but the Jets are a far different team now.

Sam Darnold made a victorious return on Sunday, and the Jets have gotten key defensive players Jordan Jenkins and Quinnen Williams back. They could get more by the prime-time kickoff at MetLife Stadium, with inside linebacker C.J. Mosley nearing a return.

This doesn’t mean the 1-4 Jets will be the first team to beat the Patriots this season. But they have a better chance than they did last time as they become whole and Adam Gase’s offense finally appears to be showing itself.

“Not surprising,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said on a conference call Monday. “Adam, give him a little extra time, get the quarterback back and iron out a few things and that’s not surprising to see. Adam showed a big spike in improvement there offensively. I’ve seen that many times before when he was with Miami and through the years, Chicago and Denver and all that.

“He’s an excellent coach. I fully expected that things would improve pretty quickly once he had a little time to work on it.”
Darnold’s return from a three-game absence because of mono was of course the biggest change for the Jets. As a result, Gase was able to open up the offense.

Trevor Siemian and Luke Falk totaled 419 yards and no touchdown passes in the three games Darnold missed. Darnold threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns in the Jets’ 24-22 win over the Cowboys on Sunday. He felt they could have done more.

“We played good at times,” Darnold said. “But there was a lot of things we can clean up. I think we left a lot of points on the field.”

This is their first test as the Cowboys were worse then the Jets IMO at this time. For me I need to see a good strong game from the Jets win or lose we don't need to see two or more Int's from the D man & we need to see a D hold the Pats under 31 points.

I would have loved to see what this defense would have looked like with Avery Williamson and CJ manning the middle!

Let's see if our offense can look as good playing against a serious Pats D

Word on the cheetahs is that their offense doesn't look that good and that their defense has played great

Steelers, dolphins,JETS, bills, redskins , Giants. I'm thinking a number of defenses would look pretty good against that kind of competition and a number of offenses would look pretty good against those teams

So the cheetahs aren't really that good but everyone will play them scared and they will end this horrendously easy schedule undefeated unless someone plays them like they are everyone else

Tough to play them like they are everyone else when the refs just won't allow that.

It's pretty disgusting how the league shows an obvious bias and favoritism to a specific team

Greg Williams should go light a candle that Antonio Brown is a complete scumbag. Adding him to Edelman, Gordon (and White out of the backfield) Brady would pick us apart all day, especially as we get almost no pass rush without blitzing.

I'll admit I don't like Williams. Like Rex, he's a one trick pony who needs the perfect compliment of players to make his defensive scheme work. The Pats have maybe their best defense in the Belicheat/Brady era. Hope I'm wrong, but I see us losing on Monday night, with Darnold taking a bunch of shots and facing confusing coverages..

They have played Pitt, MIA, Jets, Bills, Redskins and Giants. Not many juggernauts there. So is this really a great defense or has it feasted on terrible offenses?

That's a really good question Tebow and something for all our fans to bare in mind going into the game Monday night.

They have guys on their D that can play at corner, safety and LB. IMO, barring injury, they'll be the top one or two D in the NFL.

I'll have to agree on that.

If still send everyone at Brady every time. If we're gonna lose anyway, take the bogus penalty and hit the prick

This is a scary game for us Jets fans. We are getting healthy at the perfect time to win this game and actually go on a winning streak. However; this is the perfect situation for the Jets to flop like they usually would and get destroyed by 40. Now I'm not saying/predicting or however you want to put it that this will happen but the momentum is suddenly switching to our favor and that never seems to be a good thing. I truly believe the Jets can make this a very competitive lose or even win this game but this is the perfect set up for embarrassment on National TV.

Look at it like this, if the Jets win this game then damn near everyone will be talking about them in good favor and it will be at the Patriots expense. DO ANY OF US HONESTLY BELIEVE THE PATRIOTS WILL ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN, OR EVEN THE LEAGUE OR REFS WILL ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN? If you do then make me a believer because I'm seriously doubting that the Jets can pull this off. I say they make it competitive at best but some way, some how the Pats will pull off the victory.
