If we can win two out of the first six we might have a shot at making a playoff run but as of right now I see us with a losing record

Glass is half empty: the first 6 games are gonna be tough. Holy Smokes! Lots of playoff teams.

Glass is half full: we finish with a softer schedule with most games at home. Easier finish and run at playoffs.

As long as we're not 2-6 at the halfway point, of course.

on paper our schedule (the first 6 games) looks about as brutal as one can get..

I would sign up for 6-4 going into the bye tonight but who knows, i might be selling us short.. :)

Two days before both Patriots games, the NFL has scheduled the Jets for mandatory intrasquad scrimmages in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

I'm not really sure how a non playoff team with no qb was handed the 7th hardest schedule, with brutal time scheduling. And what the hell is this back to back Saturday games? It's bs

Jets open season with six of nine games on the road

Breakdown: It’s nasty, just plain nasty. Can the New York Jets' schedule be any tougher? It’s as if the NFL input the Jets’ opponents into a computer program called, “Worst-case scenario.” Or maybe the league office let Bill Belichick handle it. It sure seems that way because this was cooked up by someone -- or something -- with sinister intentions.

The Jets play six of their first nine games on the road. They have five prime-time games for only the third time in franchise history. They have back-to-back short weeks in December.

The positives? They open at home on Sept. 11, which should make for a special atmosphere.

“It’s truly am honor to open the season at home, at MetLife Stadium, on the 15th anniversary of 9/11,” center Nick Mangold said. “I know that will be an emotional time for everyone as it was in 2011 [for the season opener].”

Road warriors: After facing the Cincinnati Bengals in the season opener, the Jets hit the road for four of the next five weeks, including two in prime time -- the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night (Week 2) and the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night (Week 6). The last time the Jets went on the road for four games in five weeks was 2007, a disastrous season. Oh, by the way, the home opponent tucked in between the four away games is the Seattle Seahawks. Todd Bowles' team will have its mettle tested in September and October.

Back in the spotlight: After winning 10 games last season, the Jets apparently are a hot ticket again. The proof is five games in prime time, including one against each AFC East foe. Players love the bright lights, but night games can take their toll on a team. The good news for the Jets -- we’re searching hard, folks -- is that three are at home, reducing the burden.

The Big Short: In December, the Jets play three games in a span of 13 days, a stretch that includes two short weeks. After a Monday-night home game against the Indianapolis Colts, they travel to the West Coast to face the San Francisco 49ers. After a red-eye flight home, they have an abbreviated week to prepare for the next game, a Saturday-night affair against the Miami Dolphins at home. This kind of stretch is tough at any point in the season, but especially late in the year, when bodies are dragging.

Strength of schedule: tied for seventh, .531

the teams we play were determined a long time ago. the only variable games are the ones against KC and indy, which are based on divisional standings last year (2nd place teams). so the 7th hardest SoS was baked in the cake, so to speak.

now when the home-away games are scheduled, the night games, the short weeks, the large amount of road games early on, that is variable and seems like the jets got a tough schedule.

initial glance is it's a very tough schedule, especially early on. if we can somehow survive the early part of the season, we can hopefully make a playoff run late.

Giving us so many tough road games in a row on short rest is ridiculous.
If the nfl wants to micromanage the schedule based on results, this is a poor showing of it.

A lot is often made about travel. Why can't the league schedule teams who are traveling all the way across the country to play back to back games out there? The Jets have to travel out to AZ, and then later fly out again to SF. Just keep them out there for back to back games!

Opponents are set automatically, but the way the league structured the schedule was about as harsh as they could have done it.

I guess so much for all the moron Pats fans talking about Goodell and the league office being pro-Jets.

You always win a game that looks like a loss on paper, usually at home, so thats the one I'm picking to play that upset role this year. Of course the opposite is true as well, and for that one my candidate is the Ravens or Rams.

If you drop one of those games, and I probably should have, the prediction is 9-7

Seattle doesn't scare me as much as they did a few years ago. I could see a win at home.

Not in the Crow's Nest, though. If it was in Seattle, we'd lose. I've been there. It sucks to play there on the road.

I am shocked at most of you. I see this as a great opportunity for us this year. This year is like D day man. This is the year we establish a beach head we become the new jets under TB. We become a team that everyone fears & nobody wants to play. Give us your toughest team & your toughest schedule in prime time & we show up to do battle. This is what the doctor ordered for this year. I am so happy for us. Now we need a Qb & Tb to get the troops in shape. Bring on the new Jets. Can't you all see it. Next year the beachhead & on to Berlin.

This is exactly what we need to cross that line folks.....we just need to be tough enough & smart enough.......Go do it..."When the going gets tough the Jets get going"

It is the big picture!

Without decent QB play OBVIOUSLY but hopefully it ain't Fitz, they are looking at a 7 win season. With decent QB play, hopefully Petty or one of the rookies, hell I'll even take Geno (NOT REALLY) the Jets can win 10 maybe 11 games.

Agreed but one question. So which one then because you and I have been pushing this youth QB movement all along. So is it Petty, one of the rookie QBs and which one, Geno or that non franchise average old man Fitz?
