More than two years after he last played in the NFL, Johnny Manziel still attracts attention. He drew 13 teams to watch him throw at the University of San Diego’s Pro Day.

Scouts from the Bears, Browns, Chargers, Giants, Chiefs, Jets, Patriots, Raiders, Titans, Lions, Jaguars, Panthers and Bucs were on hand, Eric Williams of ESPN reports.

The Broncos were not among the teams to scout Manziel despite an earlier report from KUSA’s Mike Klis, who since has tweeted a correction clarifying the Broncos were not present.

Manziel’s private coach, George Whitfield, took the quarterback through the throwing session. Manziel had 38 throws to receivers and tight ends, according to Whitfield, and was “stronger” and had “more horsepower.”

Manziel, 25, went 2-6 in his two seasons in Cleveland after the Browns made him a first-round pick. Off-field troubles and work ethic hampered his first NFL try, but having cleaned up his act, Manziel hopes for a second chance to do better.

The former Heisman Trophy winner remains talented, which gives him at least a remote chance to catch on somewhere.

Saw/heard on TV this am that he was there because San Diego had no upperclassmen that could throw to WR's, so that is why he was there. Reporter also said that all 13 team scouts were there anyway to watch USD players.

That's twice the wins they had in their last two seasons.

If it had been in New York, nutjobs would be calling sports radio screaming "Why did they get rid of that guy?"
And Manish would be asking it, too.

Manziel will probably get another chance, but it’s gonna have to be a very specific situation for him. He’ll have to come in somewhere as a 3rd stringer with his eyes and ears open, and his mouth shut. And work his ass off, with no side show shenanigans. Johnny Football “show me the money” nonsense.

No booze, no late nights, and no unstable relationships with a girlfriend. He’s already shown where that all leads.

That’s a tall order for him. He’s got a major mountain to climb.

I'd give him another chance. If he is clean and sincere, Petty, Hack, McCown and Bridgewater are not even in his league.

There's no doubt he can find a roster spot if he is sincerely clean and sober.

This information is accurate. I watched that workout session on TV myself. They did not go there to watch him. They were there for other players and he just happened to be there to help out those receivers from San Diego. I'm not saying they didn't observe him as well but that isn't what they were there for. He claims that he is married now and has mended his ways. I say to him prove it.
