This is the season we find out re: Geno

Repeat Offender Pro Bowler

I don't recall anyone bringing up race, but I didn't read every post in detail.

Anyway , people have every right to be down on Geno. Where is goes over the top, is when it's suggested he has no shot to ever be anything good. There have been good Qbs, who have had worst starts to their careers than Geno. Fact! Let's see how he does with better coaching and a better cast.

We all agree then

Smith is the number 1 QB, now, at this time, in May
No we all don't agree, at least I don't but I have been saying all along if Geno doesn't play well then pull him. I never said he was or would be our future franchise QB. I said he has the capabilities and talent to do so and with the garbage he dealt with years one and two, maybe he can make better of his what he has.

I realize you're being sarcastic, but it's statements like this that add nothing to the debate.

Do you REALLY think Geno could throw 20 straight TDs, then get crucified for his first pick? REALLY???

C'mon now. Is it really that out of the realm of possibility to look at Geno's first two years and think he may not have what it takes to be a top-flight NFL QB? Is it really that unreasonable to put some of the blame on him, instead of always pointing the finger at EVERY other possible source? Is it really impossible to have "grown-up" debate as we try to survive the next two months?

What kills me about you guys is EVERY ONE OF YOU start out singing Geno's praises, then finish with "of course I have no idea how he's gonna turn out" . . "this is his make or break year" . . . "Bowles will have a quick hook" . . .

Just stick to your guns. If you believe he's our future, great. If you're offended by anyone who doesn't agree, so be it. But you're not doing anything to support your argument when all you do is bash those in disagreement, then post the same doubt two sentences later . . .

You're taking a "them and us" approach towards this debate. Why can't someone support the decision to start Geno based on limited options, think he's still got some potential, but acknowledge that he's not a sure thing based on past performance?

I don't see that as two sides of an argument. There are more layers to this debate than simply "pro vs con" in regards to Geno Smith.

Yes this was an extremely exaggerated hypothetical but if u think that there are those who will never get behind Geno no matter how well he might do, then U have not been paying attention to this or any other message board.

Again, I have no Idea how Geno will do and neither do you or anyone else. I know how I hope he will do as I stated earlier. I did not point any fingers in any direction, Yes Geno has been horrible these past two years, but that doesnt mean that I now hope he does not get it together.
you stating that my opinion not being "grown up" Meh, ill get over it.

Which "every one of you" categories are you lumping me into? Because the only category I claimed to be in and will always be in is a New York jets fan.

Again, my "guns" are and always will be pointed in the same direction. I did not state that I believe anything. I stated what I hope happens.

Please provide ONE example in the history of the New York Jet organization where a player had a lights out season and was still reviled by a sector of the fan base.

Since I obviously haven't been paying attention . . .

If you don't sense a "them vs us" attitude from Geno lovers, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I've said multiple times I'll root for the kid, I just don't believe in him. I'm pretty sure that's the definition of having one foot on each side of the fence.

But because I'm not willing to make every excuse possible for the kid, I (and others) are labeled "Geno-haters".

Couldn't be further from the truth, but it is what it is . . .
