This is the year to revamp the O-Line through the draft

If you haven't thought it by now, this offensive line is worthless to say the least... For all those who believe the Jets will be able to retain certain players or should keep certain ones in the fold need to reevaluate this horrible unit... Age, injury and lack of experience and/or talent has hit a new low...

Looking like we will be a top 5 pick again, drafting the best offensive line in this draft won't be there (Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin), looks like he is heading back to school...

Cam Robinson, Chad Wheeler look to be interior lineman at this level... Dan Feeney is the best interior lineman in this draft...
Jets will need to roll the dice not on one tackle but several...

The only way we can be creative this upcoming draft is throw out the BPA selection committee... We will need to find trade partners to make multiple trade downs to accumulate more picks... Trading a couple of players along the way to get rid of the riff raff...

If we could end up drafting this lot:

Dan Feeney (OG) Indiana (20th - 25th)
Chad Wheeler (OG) USC (30th - 38th)
Cameron Sutton (CB) Tennessee (35th - 42nd)
Avery Gennesy (OT) TAMU (54th - 62nd)
Dion Dawkins (OT) Temple (58th - 64th)
Kyle Fuller (OC) Baylor (68th - 74th)
Kevin King (CB) Washington (72nd - 80th)

5 offensive linemen, 2 corners will do well to start the real rebuilding process for this team... With a top 5 selection the right GM would have all the fire power needed to make this happen... Only one true first rounder, but not Top 10 prospect with all the defensive prospects that will be in this draft...

We would need to tender RFA Wesley Johnson, keep James Carpenter for next season while rolling the dice with Qvale at right tackle and figuring out how to return Clady not on that team option for one season (or find another veteran to sign a 1 year deal at LT)... At right guard Watts, Dozier or free agent one year signing to be the bridge for our draft prospects to develop with limited playing time to get them acclimated to this level... It may seem a brutal idea but it would be well worth the trouble to stabilize this unit...

As for corner both Sutton and King could start day one... Sutton is good at both man and zone but best at bump n run... As for King his length allows him to disrupt catch point with many receivers and has the long speed to keep up downfield...

After these two units are fixed then the team can focus on other areas that may need to be infused with some talent, but it starts from those two units first and foremost...

What about last year??? The rebuilding should have started last year. Mac just completely fucked th fans and the team by taking Lee and Hack. Hack is useless this season and Lee was a complete waste of a 1st round draft choice. He's a part time player at best in Bowles defensive scheme.

I'm just so surprised that people are still so unwilling to call out Mac? LEGITIMATELY, with the exception of the Williams pick you could argue that every other player he's drafted is shit....

I'm to the point that whatever it will take to get this team to success, (FUCK IT, DO IT PLEASE!!!) For years I've been harping on drafting that franchise QB (especially), WR and RB and obviously it hasn't happened. Even if they did, you can't do much when your oline can't protect you and open up holes for you. This team needs help everywhere (offense, defense, and special teams). So the best player out there, please draft him, keep him healthy and mold him into a HOF player that will help our team win multiple SBs.

I am truly hoping it won't be another damn 300-pound dlinemen but whatever at this point. Obviously, Williams wasn't a bad pick, great pick in fact. He's the best dlinemen we have and the best defensive player we have actually. We may just have a great young defensive nucleus to come with Williams, Lee, Jenkins, Mauldin, Pryor, and Burris. If Wilkerson and Richardson can get their shit together, we can throw them in the mix. If not, trade their asses this off season and get something for them that can truly help us. Just need to build the oline, QB, and offensive skilled players now.

May I say I agree with both of you.

1) out with he old & in with the new.......OL lets go for quality numbers/

2) Big Mac as of today failed......but lets see how the draft guys from this year do next...his old guys really sucked

3) I said the timing of this team was off this year proves it We wasted this year

I am looking forward not backwards... I am not calling out anyone just proposing what we could do this year...

Last year the level of talent was just as bad as it is this year with premium offensive linemen but this year we could get an entire talented line without giving up the kitchen sink... We actually could be on the receiving end of a kitchen sink move...

Look, I am not willing to give grades out on Lee, or Hack just yet... Lee has a long way to go but being paired up with a dirt slow veteran doesn't help the sideline to sideline coverage from the middle linebacker position... Then Hack, could be a hack or be the next coming until we get into his second off season can we tell if he has progressed or not...

For me, this year there is literally Top 5 prospects then the talent falls off a bit... Meaning second round talent will be drafted in the first round... Underclassmen not included yet in my Big Board because not all the talent has committed either way...

BUT, from what we know that will be in this draft to build literally a brand new O-line 5 players this is what we could do while also drafting two young talented corners that could stabilize the secondary... I like Juston Burris think he will be a great nickel but that is his shelf because he doesn't have the long speed to cover deep down the field...

It is time someone puts on their big boy pants on and makes the moves necessary to simply start over from scratch and build through the draft...

Center Kyle Fuller from Baylor connected to Bryce Petty because of their continuity not only together but with this type of offense he could take Wesley Johnson's job day one...

Getting a player like Dan Feeney who is a being compared to a lot of great interior linemen has enough flexibility to play right tackle...

Dion Dawkins, Chad Wheeler and Avery Gennesy all played left tackle in college... Wheeler doesn't have the true knee bend to stay at left tackle at this level...

Dawkins and Gennesy can play both left or right tackle positions... Avery Gennesy is a pure left tackle and would give us stability on the blind side...

The reason I chose these five because everyone outside the center can shift to any position to give us flexibility in case of injury...

  • I do like Qvale but more as an interior option...
  • I do like Dozier because he is a true run blocker...
  • I do like Wesley Johnson but as a short term bridge player...
  • I am interested in seeing more of Watts at this level to see if we can use him as a bridge next year if Winters does indeed leave...
  • As for left tackle, right tackle we may need to sign one or two veterans on a one/two year deal to bridge the rookie class without throwing them to the fire and it seems to be a bad move with gang green development...
  • If we do take Fuller and he starts, then Wesley Johnson gives us flexibility at the guard position...

I'm done waiting for the right people to make the right decisions. The Jets never will find those people.

Too many players to replace with one draft. That only works when you need to replace one and the rest of the line can cover his "rookieness".

Yup.

You know you're in trouble when your needs include two starting tackles and a center. Assuming Mangold retires.
