If Quinn is our next head coach he is going to bring in Kyle Shanahan. What do you guys think?

Shanahan has a reputation of being a ground and pound type of OC. That's why Pettine brought him into the Browns. It's what he was familiar with from his time with Rex.

Not that he doesn't throw the ball ball at all, but he is a guy who likes to deal with 3rd and short. Not a bad fit in view of the the Jets current QB situation. The SeaHawks are also a run first team, which might be why Quinn likes him.

The reason he left the Browns appears to a rift between himself and the FO, not Pettine. The current CS was hired by the former GM Mike Lombardi, who hired, what appeared to be the OC ,Dowell Loggains, before he hired Shanahan. Then Lombardi was fired about a week later and relaced by Ray Farmer.

Crazy situation that the GM who hired the CS was fired right after the CS was hired. The Browns did OK early in the season which covered up the dysfunction, but Farmer was all over the Offense, in much the way that Idzik was attempting to call shots with the Jets QB's. Johnny Football didn't help the situation much.

Shanahan had mostly worked for his farther in the past, and wasn't used to the insane situation, and decided to bail.

All in all I think he is a very good OC, Who is know to let his offense be determined according to who his personnel are, but is rooted in the running game. Think he also interviewed for a HC job. This should work, and I'll be happy with the hire if that's the way it goes.

keep in mind that this is going to be a fairly young, inexperienced crew. Mac, who it has been reported doesn't like being in the media much, Quinn, a first time HC, and Shanahan who I believe is in his early 30's.

This, IMO, is why Quinn wants former Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik, in the front office. He is currently unemployed in the NFL, and works for ESPN. Dominik would bring experience to the FO, and is a good cap and contract guy, which Maccagan has no experience in.

I really think this combination can work, and am getting excited about the potential of it. IMO that's what the dinner with Mac was about last night. To see if he is happy with, and can work with, Quinn, and Dominik.

If he is, this whole thing might be good to go. Or at least I hope it is

I am super excited after reading this. turns out like all the right moves are being made. Maybe a first for the jets. We'll see how it goes.

As for the Cleveland Browns, I heard that the front office was texting plays to the coaching staff on the sidelines during games...

awful.

I am to.

I am expecting that the Jets will hire Maccagan in the very near future. Some time between today, and Monday. Suspect they need to work out the terms of his contract, and have his agent review it.

If the Jets then conduct interviews with Shanahan, and Dominik, you can pretty well assume that Quinn will be a done deal.

If Maccagan walks out of the building with out a contract.

A-Oh
