Too Early? But Time to Look at the Off Season

Maybe like I said a Gardner Minshew in free agency can compete with Mike White for the next few years. Both would give us a competitive edge bring back Streveler and draft a quy on day two early day three. Fix this offensive line, draft a left tackle and a center. Would consider AVT for left tackle. Hope between Max Mitchell or Mekhi Becton could be the right tackle moving forward. Nate Herbig has to come back fuck the cost, make sure you bring him back. Eat what you will and trade Laken, maybe it is the quarterback play that he is sub par who knows. Me personally if you want this lineup I would do this and pray for the best that everyone is healthy but making sure you have veteran role players would suffice:

Left Tackle Alijah Vera Tucker, Duane Brown
Left Guard Mekhi Becton, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif
Center: Draft, Dan Feeney
Right Guard Nate Herbig, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif
Right Tackle Max Mitchell, Mike Remmers

Would work Nate Herbig as center in the off season to see if he can be that guy. Then signing or drafting a guard would be easier. McGovern has been up and down not worth handing him a contract and hoping he continues to play average. Bring back Feeney, Tardiff, Remmers and Brown as bridge guys. Tardiff can play both sides and Feeney gives us a capable center. We have two capable veteran tight ends and think we all agree we have our backfield set.

Breece Hall, Michael Carter & Bam Knight is our backfield for the next couple years can also add someone to the practice squad.

Wide Receiver we still have a competitive skill room here. The only player that might have one foot out the door and would be via trade is Corey Davis. I do believe Elijah Moore can be salvaged. Garrett Wilson along with Jeff Smith gives you three components to a competent lineup. Have to consider trading Braxton Berrios and Corey Davis get a couple day three picks. Still leaves us with talent, rely on the tight end room to be the go to.

Defense will need some role players but nothing like the overhaul on offense and anything short of making these moves will be a disappointment.

Don't expect anything out of Becton. He has loads of talent, but he also eats loads of calories. And trying to get him on the field is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

The team needs a lb even if Mosley renegotiates.

Quinnen will consume a chunk of the cap.

Bigger question, who are we going to get for oc?

I would add to this drafting a stud LB. Watching SF play, you can clearly see the difference from that defense to our is the LB's. Those guys are flying all over the field and making impact plays all over the place.

We need more speed at that position.

I am not holding my breath on anything from Becton. Truth is, I think AVT likely comes back as LT. Mitchell, provided he gets cleared, is RT. The interior is the issue. I'm good with letting Tomlinson going and using the money. I would keep Herbig at G. He has developed a comfort level there, and I would not want to mess that up. As for McGovern, with his deal up, I would be good moving on, but the FA market is pretty empty. Bradbury with the Vikings will make it to FA, but Minnesota didn't pick up his fifth year option and he has had some back injuries. That scares me. The draft isn't that much better, as the best options are likely late second/early third guys. Bringing back McGovern may be the direction to take.

What this really comes down to is what the Jets do in the first two rounds. If they go OT early, I could see AVT sliding back to G. If they go IOL, then AVT is likely LT. And I don't have any great answers at center. McGovern's comfort level and the lack of options might make his return more likely.

Soooo...I could see less than an overhaul. Perhaps...

AVT-O'Cyrus Torrence-McGovern-Herbig-Mitchell

Or perhaps...

Broderick Jones-AVT-McGovern-Herbig-Mitchell

Becton, if he is even active, is a swing guy who can play either.

I'd love to do more at center, but I just don't see the value out there to do it.

Yeah. Until the o line is fixed we r going nowhere fast and the attempts to fix it the past 2 years have failed miserably. Yes, I know injuries are part of that, but still…

and I’m afraid the team has quit and not just on Zach. It’s hard not to become a Jet when everyone around you plays like a jet

I would keep AVT at LG. Max Mitchell at RT. The way the Jets are playing we have a chance at a top #12 pick in this coming Draft. Move up for one of the elite LT's. Resign Herbig for RG. Pick up a good Center in FA along with a Garropolo and a FS Bates. Rd #2 and #3 of the Draft grab 2 Linebackers. Release Edge Lawson, WR Davis, QB Flacco. Trade LG Laken T. Also need $$$$ to resign Q to a long term contract.

there are loads of linebackers in this draft players like Henry To'oto'o, Alabama, DeMarvion Overshown, Texas, Noah Sewell, Oregon all 2nd round picks. A player like Will Anderson from UGA gone in Top 15. Trenton Simpson, Clemson also gone in the first round. But work horses the three I posted any one of them would flip the bill for us.

How many safeties are there that Saleh can turn into LB's? Thats who we need to follow.

Becton through a couple people saying he has lost more weight to this point and has no setbacks. I am not optimistic he will be a fit for us but hopefully he can get healthy that we can unload his rookie contract on someone.

Max Mitchell is a concern, blood clots are dangerous but Vinny Curry did come back from that.

Nate Herbig can play center, was a left guard with Philly. Has boosted his stock playing RG.

Alijah Vera Tucker looked outstanding at left tackle. Starting there he should get the nod.

For me, I think with AVT at LT then maybe we can salvage Laken for a year.
The question is can Herbig play center and if he can signing a veteran guard would be in the cards.
The biggest question is Max Mitchell if he can go playing right tackle our continuity can continue to grow.
If Herbig is nothing more than a guard then moving him to LG secures the blind side for years.
There are 5 top tier centers in the first three rounds that can start immediately for us.
Again comes down to who is playing right tackle. Draft someone like Tennessee Darnell Wright who can sub in at left tackle similar to AVT in terms of athleticism and potential. Believe Wright will be available in third round. Might even slip to fourth round. 6'6" 335 big dude moves well in space.

Top Centers in this draft TCU Steve Avila, ND Jarrett Patterson, Ark Ricky Stromberg, Oregon Alex Forsyth, Minn. John Michael Schmitz,
I think Stromberg fits our scheme perfectly, so does Avila but Avila likely gone in the first round.

But if Joe Douglas starts moving players for picks he could get creative and maybe move back into the first round and double down another two first round selections this year?

there are 6 in this draft that play the hybrid role that I know of. Except for one all are considered day three picks right now

This is a perfect plan. My only deviation on this is sign Minshew over Garrapolo. They are roughly the same type player, but Minshew will be cheaper . Let Minshew and White battle it out for QB1, the loser is QB 2 and draft a developmental QB late. Minshew would fit right in with the team….. I have heard Garrapolo is kinda weird personally ….. and there has been some bitching that he doesn’t fit real well with the team.

Not sure about the love for Remmers. He came in for one play and Flacco was hit immediately. Ogbuehi played several games without drawing attention to himself, until he got injured,

That's great news. I hope it's true. I have my doubts about it but we'll see. But hopefully the evidence is none of these stupid-assed smiling like a he's not posing when in fact he is while purposely wearing clothing to make him look svelte.
