Good news IMO. I'm looking forward to seeing this kid get a chance with some decent weapons. The offense looked a lot different (more diverse) with his ability to open things up more than Fitz. Was looking forward to seeing some shots downfield with the young WRs; maybe we will see that next week. Assuming of course that TB doesn't revert back to Fitz as the starter. Gotta believe that he won't though, particularly after his press conference whining.
perhaps.. but smith sideline antics week 7 didn't prevent bowles from starting him yesterday..
me, i'm firmly in the start petty ASAP camp..
i don't see any benefit in letting smith audition for the other 31 teams..
unless bowles is BSing us about petty's shoulder being healthy..

Yep... prefer moving on with Geno... and then Petty... Fitz is better to just come off the bench at this point for this year

Tough call.
I'd be tempted to start Fitz - have him in a short leash. Gives Petty a few weeks holding the clipboard and being amongst the action.
Have it set that he comes in after our bye week!

That would in general be my inclination.
However, one factor to consider is that if you put in Petty now, his first game will be against the Browns.
If you put him in over the bye week, his first game will be against the Pats.
Just wanted to clarify something: By placing the news update from 1:21 pm before my past at around 10:30 am makes it look like I'm cheering for the 'torn ACL' diagnosis. Obviously, I was not.
Petty needs to play this week. Fitz sucks. Hack moves up in the reps with Geno gone. Sucks for Geno, but glad he is out of the way. Need Fitz our the way or a coach smart enough to start Petty and get him some real playing time.
I'm unclear what do you mean good news? Geno is out for the rest of the year. So are you saying this is good news for Petty coming in sooner or you misunderstood and thought Geno was coming back?

I gotta tell you... Geno getting hurt really throws a monkey wrnch into what I pervceived to be the plan and like...
1. Play Geno and see what he can do to spark the team going into the bye
2. Geno loses 2 of the 4 games going into the bye. Move onto Petty
3. Petty gets 6 games to show what level of NFL talent he has
4. We know what to do in the offseason and where to prioritize a QB
Now if we move on to Petty starting this week...
1. Means we are giving up on this season
2. It causes a media outrage and a circus.
3. It will upset veterans
4. More locker room upheaval
I think we gotta go back to Fitz... Let him stink for 2-3games and then turn it over to Petty.. I personally want to get to Petty now but I think that is the logical thing to do.
