Nobody is giving a lot for Mo. He wants big money and is not a game changer. I would settle for a 3rd at this point.

We have to trade Mo for something. The Jets really screwed this thing up and need to get anything they can in return. We need the cap space.
The only thing I don't get is if we are ready to win now. then Having Mo this year will help us win the SB this year:global (12):
We can still win without Mo.
Yes we can but our odds would be better with him this year...so If the Jets think they can win now (I did not say I think the Jets can win now) they are better off with him unless they get a trade
I'm all in with " win now " but my rational is a bit different...our two biggest deficiencies last year ( imho ) were covering the backs out of the backfield..(.Davis was atrocious in coverage otherwise the Jets would have resigned him) , and a consistent edge rusher . Our D-Line is still very solid ( given our two FA acquisitions), assuming we can get a second rounder...hopefully a high one....lets consider this scenario.With our first round pick...and two second rounders...we could get the likes of D. Lee who could play inside or out ,or Reggie Ragland and maybe a Noah Spence , or even Jylon Smith ( if one of the two actually falls to the second round ) and an OL . All of that talent ,might be considered unreachable, but if we could trade Big Mo for a high second rounder..and maybe a third...re-sign Fitzie at QB , tell me our team wouldn't be in a win now mode.
I like the trade proposal ideal however; I wouldn't give up Smith with this trade but I would Petty. I'm figuring if the Jets proposed this it's because they believe Wentz is a sure fire franchise guy and they don't think Petty is. So keep Smith and see they will take Mo, Petty and our #20 overall pick. Doubt Cleveland would ever go for it or the Jets would ever propose it but a nice thought anyway.
Side note: if this happened whether it's your proposal or mine and the Jets draft Goff, I would absolutely loss my mind. Wentz is the only QB in this draft worth doing something like this and he may not even be worth it.
