Training Camp Fodder

Training camp is only days away. I hope we get glimmers of what this team will be all about this season. (Hint; Defense). I really don't care if Brian Winters pulls tractors or trailers or whatever it is he hauls. I really, really don't want to hear QB stats from scrimmages. I don't care how loud or passionate the new coaches are! Or where they land their helicopters. Or how much the (few remaining) veterans say this team will surprise this year. What else are they going to say???

I would really love to read/hear about;
  • Anything Jamal Adams does.
  • How is Marcus Maye doing?
  • Is it Burris/Skrine or Skrine/Burris?
  • Is ASJ still creating a buzz (no pun intended)?
  • What the other rookies are doing.
  • Is Wilkerson healthy?
  • Is Deon Simon pushing McClendon off the roster?
  • Is Shell claiming the RT spot?
  • Is Claiborne a real #1 CB?
Feel free to add what you would like to hear about.

5th Year Team Option

In addition to the above, I'd like to hear about how the WR corp as a whole is performing/learning the offense. We have arguably one of the worst (or if u consider "unproven" or "raw" a better word be my guest) WR corps ive literally ever seen. On the Jets and in the NFL. Maybe just as bad if not worse than the year we trotted out Holmes, Hill, Gates, and Nelson as our WRs. yikes.

To me it will be really interesting to see if guys like Anderson, Peake, Marshall, Stewart, Wilson, etc. can run away with roster spots and surprise this league. I think a lot of the WRs have talent, sure. But all are unproven except Enunwa. It would be nice to see that some of these guys can actually play in the NFL and be difference makers. I hope stewart and Hansen show they belong in this league because I am not that confident in Anderson or Peake.

i would like to see by the end of the third preseason game, either hackenberg or petty has forced bowles' hand into being the week one starter..

even better, whoever out of the two isn't name the starter, is named the backup.. leaving mccown in street clothes on game day/game night, all season barring injury..

well thought out thread, BTW..

edit:

LOLz i should have paid more attention to the thread title..

still, hackenberg & or petty showing signs in training camp, they will be one & two on the depth cart week one is most important to me..

I am very interested in seeing how Shell works out.

If his last three games is indicative of future performance, our OL will be fairly solid. Johnson and Shell are the keys as the LT position should have at least adequate production out of Beechum and Ijilana.

I think the guy who has been providing more insight into how individual players are performing has been Connor Hughes. I really like his posts. Posts like pulling tractors or 3,000 mile trails or how many days until the 2018 draft, or tennis matches between Jets is utterly useless.

Tell us us what's going on with the players on the damn field!

1. Hack
2. Hackenberg
3. What will Hackenburg do in training camp?
4. Will Hack take the starting job and play all 16 games?
5. Can Hack actually be a leader and become a franchise QB or are we looking to draft a QB with the top five pick next year?
6. Will the O-line gel and be able to block for Hack and open holes for the RBs?
7. Will the young RBs, mainly Wilds and/or McGuire take over the starting job or will Powell be the guy? Will Forte even be a Jet come game one of the season?
8. Will the young WRs gel and become true threats? I'm not worried about Enunwa but what will the rookies, Peake, Marshall, Anderson and now Whitehead do?
9. Will the rookie TE and ASJ become a true threat tandem for years to come?
10. Will the young defense gel and show signs of being a true force in a year or two? I'm not concerned at all about the D-line or our safeties but will our rookies DBs and Burris be our starters or will the vets, Claiborne, Williams and Skrine be the starters? Will our young LBs lead the way, mainly Lee, Jenkins, Mauldin and the rookie or will the older vets play more?

Note: Lastly, can this CS get this team to go hard every practice, pre-season and real game and can they even win more then 3 games this year?

I hope that NickSINYC is able to attend some practices. He always provided good analyses of the QBs.

It really stinks that training camp is open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays. I remember heading to Hofstra and attending all the weekend practices and atleast 2-3 practices during the week.

My, have times changed. Very unfortunatly.

Completely agree. In addition, the only open Saturday practice is at night at the stadium. Finally, the only active phone number displayed on the web site is for ticket sales. Otherwise there is a jets "hotline" with an out-of-date recorded message. Not a fan- friendly operation at all.

Me too, Dan. I grew up down the road in East Meadow and we used watch every single practice during the summers when I was a kid and then later on when I attended Hofstra. It's a shame how things have changed.
