My guess is this - the deal was in place, to be made when the Jets were on the clock. But it was contingent on two things:
1. The player the Eagles targeted still being available, and
2. None of the tackles the Jets had targeted being available.
As it happens, the top OT on the Jets' board, I believe, was available.

Yep. That sounds reasonable to me. It's probably for the better. As much as I like Dillard it is rumored that locker room fit was the reason he hit the trade block. I don't know the details or if he was even the problem but we don't need that kind of problem here.

And after hearing Becton's call with Joe, I am pumped. I could see this year's slogan. "I'm ready! Let's Go!"
Yeah, me too. He actually sounded happy that it was the Jets that drafted him. He seems to have connected with Joe and that's a positive.
Yeah, I like the way he tosses those little defenders around too.
