Craziest part of that photo is that no one knew Cosell's "hair" was actually a trained (and heavily sedated) baby marmot.
I think Ali knew! "If Frazier don't answer the fifth round bell, I'll jump the ropes and go for Cosell"!
Man, those "interviews" with Cosell and Ali before fights were can't miss moments. So many laughs.
Actually Cosell and Ali were super close. Ali also at the end became close to Frazier and remarked he was the toughest man he ever fought.
Cosell was "Howard Cohen, Attorney", who had an ego as big as Texas. He wanted to be a sports journalist. On Saturdays, he'd shlep a 20 lb. reel-to-reel tape recorder and walk around Ebbets Field interviewing fans for practice.
