Two series for Zach Wilson on Saturday night

Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson‘s first appearance at MetLife Stadium, for a simulated intra-squad game, didn’t go so well. He’ll get a shot at redemption this weekend, with his first preseason game there.

Via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Thursday that Wilson will play two series against the Giants, in the preseason opener for both teams.

Saleh wants experience for his players; he pointed out the team has 30 players with no preseason experience, given that the pandemic wiped out the entire preseason in 2020.

Wilson definitely needs the experience. He craves, as he should, the opportunity to test the limits of what he can and can’t do at the next level. That’s how to prepare for the games that count — and it’s the polar opposite of the breathless reporting from six years ago (yes, it’s been six years) about how many practices Marcus Mariota could go without throwing an interception.

It should be a good test against the Giants first team defense which was descent last year. If only Jones didn't turn the ball over as much, who knows where they could've finished in the NFC least. There's no specific game planning expected, and both teams will play vanilla. I hope to see some ball movement on the offense with no key injuries now that tackling is encouraged.

Does anyone know of some links for live streaming for the local impaired? Had to let go of cable too expensive and I'm not in the area. There used to be a "Fight Club" post years ago.

i think they are hoping his series are ten plays and points, but regardless we get to see him for at least 2 plays on offense Saturday

well if he is only playing 1 play per series means he is turning the ball over

as for what the coaches think Zach performances in practice doesn't leave much hope for points in a real live action game even if it is preseason...

I will definitely be glued to the highlights and the actual game, if I'm able to see it. l was one that wasn't high at all on Zack and I didn't want them to draft him AT ALL. I still not sold on him just yet but I do have high hopes for him of course. I wanted Justin Fields or at worst, trade down for a haul and give Darnold one more year. I truly Zack and everyone else that wanted him proves my doubts wrong. I am rooting for the kid and want him to be our 15-20 year franchise guy. Just like I wanted Darnold to be and I was actually high on him and we see how that turned out. Shows you how much I know about football. LOL!

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the Fields observation. He started out slow and the Dolphins D is stringy as hell. The WRs and TEs were covered times 3 by that defense. He came on strong before the half and they scored a TD in the second half, mainly off his arm and legs. Now I'm not blowing Fields up to lower Zack at all and I'm hoping Zack is our guy. I'm just being fair about what I'm seeing and so far Fields looks good.

Andy Dalton's good is truly in trouble game 1 of the season, if this keeps up.
