They are trying to recreate the success they had on offense when Hernandez was with them.

They will always have success with Brady.

Jets fans don't want to hear this, but they better get some LB's and who can cover. Our LB corps are depleted right now unless we re-sign Henderson and possibly sign Courtney Upshaw (in for a visit tomorrow). Brady to Bennett and Gronk is gonna suck if we don't have an answer. Losing Antonio Allen was a bummer. He covered Gronk well.

Just having a discussion on the prospect thread about the Ohio State LB - Lee. I don't like him as a conventional LB in a 3-4, but what he gives you in speed, athleticism and ability to cover backs and TEs is intriguing. If he's there at 20, which is a big if, and Bowles has some sort of LB/S hybrid role in mind then it might be a way of thwarting the Pats short to intermediate passing game.

The Pats succeed in part because they create a system that nobody else uses. On offense, it's all tight ends and slot receivers, with a checkdown system of underneath throws. Brady hasn't had a legit top 2 deep threat WR since Moss.

Since most teams have the same basic offensive personnel, if not the same scheme and playbook, defenses are built to stop that personnel grouping. One back, two outside WRs, one TE, rotating slot WR, back, or second TE depending on situation.

How many defenses are constructed to match up against no legit outside WRs, but a bunch of slot guys, TEs, and RBs coming out of the backfield? Defenses are constructed to match up against the majority of teams they face, not the exception to the rule.

tough to disagree with anything you posted..

i'll say this though.. the jets have to match up against "this offense" no less then twice a season, so there is that to consider.....

That's what makes it tough to be in their division. Do you base your defense on two guaranteed games a year and one opponent, or the other 14 games and 30 opponents? If you focus on the Pats, you run the risk of not being ready for the bulk of your opponents. If you focus on the other opponents, you are practically handing them the division.

In a copycat league, you would think some other teams would follow the Pats model. But I guess without a QB like Brady, it's not easy. You need someone who is very good at making reads, and has good underneath accuracy.

no question about it.. hell, it would even be cost effective with the rest of a team's skill position players..

the good news (or for us at least) is Brady is almost 40 & father time is undefeated..

So the Pats go for 2 TE now , the way of the league X2
And the Jets don't use a TE at all
I really don't understand why Gaily doesn't use one
Oh yea , we don't even have a QB
Makes sense

Everyone remember when Kotite was going for the two TE. Having Johnnie Mitchell then drafting Kyle Brady.
Ahh, the Jets wrong year, wrong Brady.

Per reporter Dan Wiederer, Bennett offered "minimal effort to conform to the unselfish and focus-driven culture" the Bears are trying to instill under coach John Fox. Wiederer also confirms Bennett's late season ribs injury, which landed him on injured reserve for four games, was essentially a sham. In the end, the sides' divorce boiled down to the fact that Bennett wanted a better contract and the Bears were dead set against it. So is life for a player in a league where teams monopolize the negotiating power with non-guaranteed deals.
