I don't think its Fitz ego. He played outstanding in '15. He has every right to hold out right now and squeeze as much as possible. With that being said, sooner or later, common sense should set in once Kaep goes to the Broncos and legit teams are out of the running.
I feel he knows $15 mil a season is out of the question. Though $10 mil isn't. That is the market value for starters in this league, especially the cap going up this year.
To me re-signing Fitz isn't the problem. The biggest problem is releasing D'Brickshaw. Even though he's had an up and down year, he's the best option at LT out there at this point. Fitz IMHO wont be the same with out an O-Line that can protect him as they did last season.
The best scenario IMHO, Trade for McCown, re-sign Fitz and have Petty learn one more year unless he can beat out McCown. Atleast you'd have a real QB to fill the gap if Fitz goes down. And of course ideally, re-work Fergusons deal. Break up the guaranteed money over 2-3 years.
This is a business, Fitz is negotiating. There should be no hard feelings, if your team can dump you to save money, you can hold to get the best deal possible.
Hopefully, mo is watching and learning he's not worth 18, and players agents over value you.
I don't see us dropping brick outright. He's a key piece to our success this year, mac doesn't want to extend guaranteed years to anyone. It makes for an interesting showdown.
I also don't see mac trading any draft picks this year. I see him negotiating his tail off to get us the best options possible, then go into the draft looking to find the best players possible.
That means, I don't think we trade any picks for qbs. The odds are one is available at 20, but I think we draft aqb in round 4 at the earliest.
