Absolutely NOT!
Jets fans are knowledgeable enough to realize the if Darnold had a bad game, it will be because he was running for his life behind an offensive line Mac has had years to develop and has seemed loathe* to do it. Given time to pass, we know he will succeed.

* = I used that word to confuse any Jints fans who may be lurking on the page.

Before we assume that this o-line is so bad, why don’t we actually watch a few games first, and actually see if Darnold’s running for his life?

Winters is 100% healthy this year, Shell has another year under his belt, and Long should be a big upgrade over Wesley Johnson.

Let’s watch the games before assuming it’s so atrocious.

Forget the past! Darnold is our QB and so far seems to have more common sense at QB playing then Sanchez. Darnolds learning the position and reading Defenses fine! So Im all about pulling for Donald! I hope next year Jets clean house of GM-HC and get a GM who can Draft Players after first round. Bowles can just go! Pathetic schemes on Defense.....Thanks to Idzik,Rex had nothing on Defense and got more from them than Bowles ever has. So get behind our QB,WR's,Safeties,CB who are good and hope Woody can get a REAL GM -HC to spend money right on Players and Coaching next season! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

My point was that we know he has the ability to be a very good quarterback and the fans won't jump all over him if he has a bad game. It will be something else other than ability and preparation.
That "something else" might include, but is not limited to, the play of the offensive line.

as far as being infuriating, this franchise takes a backseat to very few..

It has more than its share of moments, but the Jets aren't alone.

That is irrelevant now, though. We've seen the Eagles, a franchise that had not won a SB ever, just win one. Hell, what did the Pats win before Mo Lewis hit Bledsoe? The Saints, who won their first not too long ago. It can happen. Even franchises with futile pasts can have fulfilling presents and futures.

Perhaps. I'm not sold in Shell developing, or on Winters being healthy. Long is a big upgrade, that is certain.

I'm not able to attach the link but check out the Simms and Lefkoe show on Bleacher report, based on Sam Darnold. Darnold took a ride in Manhattan on 42nd St. mainly with the fans, visited a fire station. Simms and Lefkoe also interviewed Tony Romo and he said he believes Darnold will the best QB in the league soon enough

He'll be the youngest QB to ever start an NFL Game on Monday night,
but the good news is he really earned it in the OTA's, training camp and the preseason games.

Yes, he did! Bridgewater did beat him out in my opinion but Darnold held his own in a significant way. You can see that Darnold will be an excellent QB. As a 21-year-old rookie, Darnold held his own with a 25-year-old franchise caliber QB, who would still be playing as a starter for the Vikings if he would have never gotten injured. That is very impressive!!!

Thanks. That got me excited. Sadly, if I try and remember the last time I was excited about the Jets, I have to go back to 2010. The game I was excited for was against, guess who, and we lost 45-3.

The next game we came back and avenged that loss by knocking them out of the playoffs on their home field. That was probably my favorite Jet win of all time. But I can't say I was excited about it before the game started because after the 45-3 shellacking a month earlier, I never expected a win. I guess that was part of what made it so great. Marshall doing backflips and him and Holmes flying like Jets around the field. Bart Scott, "Can't stop a nosebleed" That was exciting

After watching the previous video and the one I'll paste below. I have to say I'm a little excited again.

The video is the one from above that says Sam Darnold, I believe. G you can work your magic , and turn the link into a video if you want

I wouldn’t jump on this idea so fast because this situation and Darnold appears to be different. First the situation, the team is rebuilding and appears to be doing it the right way. Their going young for the most part and have cleared their cap space. They aren’t investing in a bunch of over the hill or talented but attitude problem type players. Come next off season with the money they have, if they do the right things, the Jets can become a a contender pretty quick. I can’t remember the last time this team has ever done it this way. They have always been a win now type of franchise and it hasn’t worked.

Now for Darnold, he in no way shape, form or passion appears to be a Sanchez or Geno. He is smart and very very very talented. He has shown how he has learned and improved from his USC mistakes. Which we all know is protecting the ball and making the smart decisions. Taking what the defense gives you, not forcing what ain’t there, and taking that smart sack without giving up a bunch of yards or turning the ball over to fight another day. Running when you have to and getting out of bounds or sliding to avoid the hits, reading the defense and being patient but also feeling the pressure and making the right and smart choice with the ball when it starts to callapse on him. He’s accurate, a leader and the team appears to want to follow him and have faith in him.

If I remember correctly, Jets fans gave Pennington all the leeway in the world because he was smart with the ball, extremely accurate and a leader. In fact, he had all the attributes that Darnold had but he wasn’t a scrambling type of QB and his arm strength wasn’t anywhere as strong. It wasn’t until Pennington showed he wasn’t the same after those years of injuries that Jets fans started to loose faith.

I think Jets fans will have a lot of faith and give Darnold that leverage without all the scrutiny. Sure you’ll have the few knuckleheads out there but for the most part, we are smarter then that. We know we have the real deal here, just like we had in Pennington but Darnold is a lot better. Now will the media cut Darnold some slack is the question and that I doubt seriously.
wow, how the **** did i miss this??

LOLz 82, you just kept squaring up batting practice fastballs, into upper deck HRs throughout the entire post!!

very much so..

i don't agree that somehow we as a fan base have the golden ticket for being a bunch of unknowledgeable, harebrained dopes..

Lol, yeah I sorta figured that. Darnold appears to be the real deal and that is what Jets fans have been asking for decades now. A franchise QB is the key to a winning organization and there is no doubt about that. A franchise QB is the most important position in team sports and if have one, you better hold onto him for deer life and we appear to have one now.

He will struggle at times but that will even be tolerable and understood because he is that talented and we all know it. He’ll play smart and he won’t take many chances at all this year. As he learns and adjust, he’ll open it up alittle more and we’ll really see what he’s about. I’d say by year three with some real talent and protection around him, he will be a real beast out there.

In about three years, teams will not want to play the Jets. Darnold is going to be a nightmare to deal with!!! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

If you want to know what a first ballot HOF QB looks like, I hope you guys are watching the Packers vs. Bears game. Rodgers has worked his magic again, on one leg basically. He is absolutely phenomenal and we can only hope Darnold can be half as great. QBs like Rodgers come along every once in a generation MAYBE??? If Darnold can be anywhere close, we should be above and beyond grateful.
