DiVincenzo’s tweets from his time as a teenager emerged on social media shortly after his MVP performance in the national title game of the NCAA basketball tournament. The timing for Allen could be more problematic: hours before the NFL draft.

A search through the quarterback’s Twitter history shows some offensive and racist posts from 2012 and 2013.

Be warned, some of the language used below may be offensive.

Allen has tweeted the “n” word multiple times.

“@cheriishhh: i dont think you niggas want a troubled son!”

— Josh Allen (@JoshAllenQB) June 14, 2012

“@Alpha_Patlan: “@J_Prodigy_5: @Alpha_Patlan (uhh) stay schemin…” Niggas Trying To Get At Me. ” doe

— Josh Allen (@JoshAllenQB) February 12, 2013

"@FelipeeeeMelo_: Bout to show up these Niggas at pong. Gonna do for @j_prodigy_5 @AFlyer5 and @J_Sal_Forever_5.":)

— Josh Allen (@JoshAllenQB) February 26, 2012

He also responded to a question that looks like was asked of him on AskFM in 2013, saying “If it ain’t white, it ain’t right!”
Why are you so white ? — If it ain't white, it ain't right! http://t.co/wsLQKZQWG5

— Josh Allen (@JoshAllenQB) June 25, 2013

While this one isn’t necessarily offensive, Allen also shared his public dislike for NBA star LeBron James in 2011.
I hate LeBron!!!!! #LeBronSucks

— Josh Allen (@JoshAllenQB) June 7, 2011

All of the tweets in question came when Allen was young — at least two years before he enrolled at Wyoming, providing yet another example of the dangers in social media.

There has been no word yet from Allen or his agent about the tweets, which will presumably come before the draft kicks off Thursday night from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Whoever leaked these tweets on the morning of the draft should burn in hell, and I'm not even kidding.

To do this to a kid on the biggest day on his life, reveal embarrassing tweets from when he was in H.S., 14 or 15 years old, is absolutely reprehensible.

And if you tell me you never made a dumb remark in H.S., never said anything racially insensitive, whether you are black or white, I'm calling you a liar.

And if you're not a liar, if you never as kid made a racially insensitive remark, make no mistake about it, you are in a very small minority.

Most of us are a bit tribal as kids and we only become less so as we grow, get out into the world, away from our tribes and cliques, start to interact with other people, and learn that we have a lot more in common as people than the stuff that separates us, even if we are not exactly the same culturally and socially.

Lastly, every N word this kid used in those tweets ended with an A, not an ER, and yes, there is a difference and we all know there's a difference. It might be wrong to use the word in any context, particularly if you are white, but these kids today grew up in a generation with the "A" N word as a fixture in the popular music they listened too and suburban white kids thought it was cool to essentially act black, so they may have foolishly thought they had the same luxury to use it in the "A" context too. Even I made that mistake well into my late 20's when rap and hip hop culture really started taking over, until a black friend of mine pulled me aside and politely explained to me why its not okay. Not to imply I was a racist, he knew better, but he wanted me to know, AS A FRIEND, that blacks who didn't know me would perceive it that way, even if the "A" N word is in all of the music, so its in my own best interest not to go there.

Anyway, coming back full circle, I think whoever did this to this kid, today of all days, is the definition of malevolent, aka evil.

WAY MORE evil than someone who posted a few embarrassing and stupid tweets as a kid he regrets, and the sanctimonious virtue signalers who use this as an opportunity to make themselves look pure at the expense of this young man, are not much better than the POS who revealed them.

IMHO

Anyway, to answer the question, its gonna hurt him, badly, because we live in an age of political correctness.

If I knew this yesterday, before I submitted my final mock, Allen would have been the 4th of the BIG 4 off the board, not #1 to Cleveland.

The malevolent SOB who went dirt digging like this, all the way back to HS, and revealed it on the day of the draft, really hurt this kid, a lot.

The timing of this is curious to say the least. Somebody went on a digging expedition. Posting comments about what someone said as a teenager? Wow.

Reprehensible, absolutely reprehensible.

Sometimes I can't believe people like this even exist, people who are this malevolent.

You just took the best day of this kids life and turned it into the worst, and over what, a few fairly innocuous (albeit misguided) comments he made as a teenager?

Its possible. Till this day there are people who are convinced it was Shula who spread rumors about Dan Marino being a coke-head on the week of the draft, so Marino would slide to Miami. I mean that is and always has been a widely held belief, and ironically, Elway was in that draft, he saw Marino slide due to those rumors.

Sounds like something that Patriots would do. They have two first rounders and are rumored to be preparing to move into the top ten to draft a quarterback.

I’m not surprised by the findings. Backgrounding is a different animal today. They go as far back as they can into people’s social media to find dirt. If you look deep enough, you can find dirt on just about anyone.

Again, it’s the timing of this. Very shady.

Orwell was right, big brother is watching, and sometimes, times like this, it feels like we are living in an age of our own Stasi or Stalin's secret police.

I think its really dangerous when you can narrow a persons life down to a few quotes, even as kids, and essentially destroy them.

The "totality" of a persons life should not be defined by a few quotes or even their worst moments, particularly as children.

This is a dangerous precedent we are setting here, and its chilling.

I wish people had the courage to stand up to it, ideally Allen would go #1 Overall tonight regardless, but PC has most people living in fear.

As a black man, I really don't know how to respond to this post or thread. To answer the question for the thread, I don't think this is going to hurt Allen at all. The reason I say this is because any team that whats him, should have already known this. In fact, all teams should have known this by now. So if the Browns don't pick him at #1, its because they weren't going to in the first place and not because of this. If they are going to draft him, they've known about this probably for weeks to months now. Teams do all kinds of research with the Feds, local police, private investigators, their scouts etc... on all these guys. Its their job to find out everything on these players from when they were youths before they decide to pay them millions of dollars. So I don't think it's going to hurt him at all really and if it does, these teams didn't do their jobs in the first place and shame on them.

As to your post, yes as youths we all pretty much say stupid shit (racially or not) and hopefully grow from it and above it as we get older but some of us don't. Seems like Allen has grown from it and hopefully he has but the one tweet saying, "If it ain't white it ain't right" is a major concern to me at least. The others do seem to be more of in a cultural sense. Still doesn't make it right but understandable at least. This appears to be a thing of these tweets getting leaked out to the public just now but all the NFL teams should have known about this already, IMO. My question to you is did you feel the same way when the L. Tunsil video of him smoking a marijuana bong got released during his draft class, and I mean somebody actually uploaded the video during the draft? So even the teams wouldn't have known about this and it did effect his draft status. BIG TIME!!!

I didn't know the details until now when I created this topic...

Josh Allen was a dumb kid quoting people and a tv show (Modern Family) not trying to be a smart ass kid .

The nigga statement was a quote from Rick Ross...

So at the end of the day whomever tried to use these tweets to hurt this kid's stock for whatever reason, backfired big time...

Actually I did feel that what was done to Tunsil was reprehensible and chilling too, but here's the thing, as much as I believe weed should be decimalized, and I do, and I think its absurd that the NFL suspends players for smoking weed, the fact of the matter is, THEY DO, thats why Tunsil's draft stock took such a big hit, because teams can't afford to draft players who wind up getting long suspensions, nobody want to draft the next Josh Gordon, even though he's one of the most talented players in the world. But as for the video being dropped on Tunsil the day of the draft, yes, I thought it was reprehensible and yet another example of us slipping towards an Orwellian society where big brother is watching. That said, I repeat, I am very concerned about people being defined as people by their worst moments. Maybe thats because I grew up in a place where if everyone was judged by their worst moments, and not in totality, we'd all be sent to some gulag or reeducation camp or worse. This is a really dangerous precedent we are setting here, and its getting more dangerous when we start going all the way back to embarrassing and stupid things we said in H.S. as kids.

Lastly, I agree with you, of all the quotes, the one you cited was the most troubling, but racial pride and racial solidarity, aka tribalism, is not nearly as uncommon as we like to pretend it is, and thats especially true when we are kids and most of our personal exposure is to our own tribes. I think we both know this cuts both ways. Thats not to excuse it. Like I said, as we grow, get out into the world, encounter and have more personal interactions with different races and cultures, we start to see that our commonalities as human-beings far outweighs our cultural differences, but sometimes we don't see it that clearly when we are 15 and 16 and exposed only to our own tribes. I know I didn't. I think most people, if they are honest, will admit they didn't either.

I had the unique experience of going to not one, but two HS's. The first one was predominantly black (and I am white), and the second was predominantly white. When I think back now to how the minority kids were treated, in both instances, its heartbreaking ... the tribalism I encountered as a kid, both ways, was that bad.

And I'm talking about NYC, not the deep south.

It made these quotes from Josh Allen seem completely innocuous.

Interesting, but it won't matter to the media, they'll still use this to virtue signal and crucify the kid.

The guys making the draft decisions for all of the teams are, hopefully, intelligent enough to see through this attempt to reduce his draft stock and it does go to his credit that he did publicly apologize for the incident.

Should we go back to the years 2012-2013, when most of these kids were what, 15 years old, and make public all the social media commentary of each and every player in this draft?

I guarantee you, you’ll find all kinds of “not nice” commentary of every flavor.

I went to H.S. in NYC, only one and it was a predominately Black school. When I say predominantly, I mean predominantly!!! Like two or three white people there at most in all my four years there. I don’t even remember their names, faces or them even being there really. So I get where coming from. Now the university I went to was the other way but it was such a big school that we sorta had our own little small black community within it. Like a HBCU college or university. So I interacted with everyone and it was a great experience.
