That's ugly

I’m OK with half of it. Bridgewater and McCown...yes

But admittedly I don’t know much about Rudolph, and maybe I’m a little pessimistic about taking guys in the 2nd round at such a critical position for this team right now. I am not a fan of Lamar Jackson.

Let’s lock this thing down with little margin for error. Get Teddy and Josh McCown and go with higher potential and upside by moving up and taking the top QB on our board. If Rosen and Darnold are the next Goff and Wentz, and we don’t try to get one of them, we’ll be kicking ourselves for it.

So McCown is back, and Bridgewater is coming in. I expect Petty to be gone very soon.

wonder if the Jets exploring a trade to send Petty to Cardinals or somewhere... Petty always reminded me of a Sam Bradford type mold and with Bradford to Zona this could be an option...

Pick up a late pick for him? He wouldn't bring back much, but a team with a QB guru who thinks he could do something with him might give up a sixth.

I would not give much for Petty if I were another team - maybe a conditional pick next season - a 7th if he makes our roster - a 6th if he takes 10 snaps?

swap a '19 pick to zona for equal round this year... we need more picks this year... this draft is deep in positions of need...

say we trade a 5th in 2019 for zona's 5th this year in the trade, worth it?

I'd do it. I do think the whole "next year's picks are devalued a round" is way overblown, but in this case, why not?

Guys, we are not getting anything for Petty. He is garbage and possibly the worst QB that played last year.

I am not totally convinced. He looked awful in performance, but QB gurus are egomaniacs. There's someone out there who has seen enough physical potential to think he can resurrect Petty's career. No team will give up much for him, but someone might give a late rounder or swap a late rounder.

John Gruden seemed to like him on his tv show - would he like Petty better than Cook and give us a bag of balls for him?

I actually agree with this. With Bridgewater, the Jets can be patient. If one of the top QBs falls to the Jets at #6, great. If not, then another top player will, whether it be Barkley, Chubb, Nelson, someone like that. With five picks above them, only so many guys can be off the board. If there's a run on QBs, go BPA and then look at either Jackson or Rudolph in the early second round.

I also agree. gives us a chance to pick up, maybe Nelson and maybe like you say one of the 2nd round qb's. This could be a good thing and much cheaper then cousins too, who we can't be sure of either

They will probably give Bridgewater a deal similar to what they gave McCown. I'm good with this move. Having these two signed will take the pressure off the draft some and also leave us money to fill other holes. I said earlier that I thought we could get both for about the same or less cost than Cousins so maybe this time I was right. In my opinion, for what it's worth, if Bridgewater's knee holds up and he plays like he did before the injury, he is better than Cousins.

Bridgewater is young and has upside

he equips the front office to avoid overpaying to move up in the draft - let it come our way and add an excellent player in the first round - AND a bunch of others - cause we need a lot of help

can we get him some serious FA OL help - so he can stay healthy?

Is he still getting signed

Mixed signals. Earlier today, it was reported the deal was being finalized, but that may have been premature. Then Ian Rapoport confirmed ongoing negotiations.

But since then, McCown has publicly stated that he was told by the team that he was brought in to be the starter. What does that mean for Teddy Bridgewater? Does he still want to come here under those circumstances? I sure hope so.

I believe they told McCown he would be the starter going into camp. That leaves a lot of opportunities for Teddy and others.

Awesome. 1 year prove it contract for only 5 million. If he wins the starting job and gets back to where he was, we have a starting QB about right on par with Kirk Cousins. Nice work Macc!

I’m feeling much better tonight than I did this afternoon. Macc killing it. A few more FA signings (OL/C, WR, LB) and we’re ready for the draft.

Jets had a very good day. I think they handled the QB situation perfectly. Trumaine Johnson is a great signing. And Crowell is a very solid back, who is still young. He's a good fit for the offense we are going to run. If we resign Claiborne and get some help at other positions (center would be one), this would be a really good FA period. I like the Bridgewater signing because he definitely has the potential to be a long term starter if he works out. It also gives the Jets some flexibility in the draft. I still think they need to draft a QB - but they have some flexibility.
