Thanks again Sarge. Right now I think we are an 8-8 team prior to the draft. I like how our FO traded low round picks for good players and made wise FA signings.

It's actually a good looking team.

The QB spot kind of sticks in my throat though

I don't like the depth at WR either. When you get past Marshall and Decker, I see no-one who would scare anyone at outside receiver, so we're in trouble if either one goes down. I also like Kerley, but I wish we had more speed in the slot.

What I learned from looking at that depth chart is if White or Cooper falls to 6 and thats the highest rated player on our board, we should take him.

Got to dis agree Screamer. With the addition of Fitz I think this is a 10 win team. Look at the roster. They have done a super job of filling holes. If Bowles can get them to play to their talent this is a pretty good football team. No real glaring holes. And they are not done yet. There will be at least one more DB, and I suspect another RB, who can catch the ball out of the back field. This draft is butt deep in RB's, and pass rushers

Fitz is by no means Tom Brady, but he is going to be an efficient game manager, who isn't going to throw to many games away. If by some miraculous intervention, Smith suddenly realizes what he is seeing when he looks across the LOS, this could be a very good team. (Not counting on that).

Show me where the big holes are?

I suspect, if Mariota isn't there, it will be a pass rusher

The top three WR's are really scary. I honestly believe Marshall is going to have a career year. He is super motivated. He wants to be a Sunday morning talking head. He wants to be in NYC. His biggest problem in Chicago, was the fact that he did an in season NFL show for Showtime. And flew to NY every Tuesday. (teams off day). His dedication to Chicago was heavily questioned in the media.

That won't be a problem in NY. He can walk there.

If he puts together 3 very good seasons in NY, he'll write his own ticket when he goes media full time. He'll be vocal, and very dedicated here.

Decker is an OK #1 . He is an outstanding #2 , when he is in single coverage. Look for some big #'s out of him.

Kerley is surely not specular, but he is an excellent route runner, with very dependable hands. I like the guy.

What you didn't mention is TE's. Amaro isn't Gronk, but you get him isolated on some undersized S, or a slow LB, he is going to put up some big #'s in certain games. I'd bet anything a good receiving RB is going to be added. The draft is loaded with them. Duke Johnson comes to mind.

After the top 3 WR's are a group of talented, but unproven WR's. A few from last year's draft. If one or two of them prove to be good #3 or 4's this is a dam scary receiving corp

FLG I agree on Decker and Marshall, thats why I said "When you get past Marshall and Decker", the implication being that I'm totally content with the outside receivers at the top of the depth chart, its the rest of the depth chart that worries me.

After Marshall and Decker at outside receiver, I see a whole lotta nothing.

In all honestly Ham, how many teams can say "If our star WR goes down, no sweat, we have better guys on the bench." In rare occasions a guy steps up and plays thru his ass. Like I said, very rare, unless you have an elite QB.

I think the Jets second depth tier is very promising. Can any one on it replace a motivated Marshall or Decker? LOL

How many teams can say "no problem"

Have to agree here. If Mariota isn't there for the taking or if the Jets just decide not to draft him, it will obviously be Beasley or some other top notch edge rushing true LB that can cover. A true impact player so our needs have rapidly been filled here. Don't know much about Fitzgerald but if he is as good or reliable as everyone says he is for a stop gap QB then our QB position has improved also. Now I'll admit I would rather have Geno step up and be our guy or some other rookie QB, even if its not Mariota. However, I can deal with Fitzgerald being there for a year or two if needed and this team isn't looking half bad right now. Plus remember FA isn't over and the draft isn't even here yet. So besides the Jets drafting a LB (most likely) in the first round, they still will address the O-line, RB, WR and QB and who knows how many immediate impact players come out of that crop.

i'd like to add an OLB in free agency, thereby allowing us to truly go BPA in the draft. i agree that the marshall signing shouldn't rule out a WR at #6 , but this is a deep WR draft (again), so we can still get a quality player with our 2nd or 3rd round picks

Not many 3-4 OLB's left and of the ones remaining, not good options. No one really reached FA as you now pretty much have to draft your own. Sheard's gone but Orakpo remains. I can't think of anyone else.
I believe the lack of interest (and options) at this position by the Jets is telling. To me, they have set their sights on OLB with the 1st pick. And the only WR they've been heavily linked to is Phillip Dorsett. Which is the type of guy they would want to run the spread since Marshall and Decker don't have deep speed. He's electric with the ball with 4.3 speed to burn. 10 TD's in only 36 catches at Miami. I think they really want him. At the moment, I would expect that they select him with their 2nd rounder. Long ways to go.
