Veteran WR's being rumored to be talking to the Jets !!

What i have seen the past two seasons aren't just "WORDS", they're merely facts. Plus, Geno apologists don't need a realist "Crystal Ball" point of views to understand that excuses upon excuses can only lead becoming more delusional regarding what they really think Geno can be, because he will never be.

Excuse #1 : He needs better talent.
Rebuttle fact #1 : In 2014 he was given more talent than he was given in his rookie year in Eric Decker, Jace Amaro, CJ2K & Percy Harvin. He not only regressed, but was benched twice because of his horrendous play.

Excuse #2 : He needs better coaching.
Rebuttle fact #2 : What good is this if he can't make it to team meetings? (i.e San Diego) This only means one thing. He doesn't take coaching seriously.

The more he plays, the more that 2013 scouting report on him becomes glaringly more believable:

{http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000156411/article/geno-smiths-work-ethic-questioned-in-scouting-report}

"(Smith is) not a student of the game. Nonchalant field presence -- does not command respect from teammates and cannot inspire. Mild practice demeanor -- no urgency. Not committed or focused -- marginal work ethic. Interviewed poorly at the combine and did not show an understanding of concepts on the white board. Opted not to compete at the Senior Bowl and has approached offseason training as if he has already arrived, and it shows in his body with minimal muscle definition or strength. ...

When Geno was placed back into the starting lineup this past '14 campaign, his teammates couldn't believe it. (http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/11940745/new-york-jets-start-quarterback-geno-smith-miami-dolphins) "THE LOCKER ROOM WAS STUNNED".

This is the player many want to lead the 2015 New York Jets, again?!! I'am sorry, but i've seen enough of this 3 interception in one quarter performance from this horrid scrub. Time to move on.

I think you're misrepresenting my point which was we haven't seen Geno with a full complement of offensive weapons therefore we cannot judge or predict with certainty that he will fail with such an assembly of talent. That's all I'm saying. Continue to predict as you will. I'm not on board until I see it.

We Just added one player to this offense, Branden Marshall. Is that enough talent around Geno?

For arguments sake, you dont think Geno had a better supporting cast last year with Percy, Decker, Cj2k & Amaro as opposed to his cast in '13 which consisted of David Nelson, Winslow, Stephen hill,Goodson, clyde Gates?

The Jets fan base has gone through this issue before with Geno.

Again, i respect your opinion and honestly envy your patience on this guy whom i have blatantly given up on.

Okay, the cast was a bit better but getting Harvin in the middle of the season didn't equate to much. And Amaro wasn't ready. Let's be fair here.
And I wouldn't claim Marshall is chopped liver for next season. He represents a true #1 WO to complement Decker. And I would maintain that they aren't finished acquiring talent. I would also point to Amaro being better prepared to contribute as he was struggling last year and didn't help Geno out much at all.
On top of that, there will be an emphasis on throwing to the RB's if past Gailey offenses are any indication. That will provide a nice outlet for Geno who needs as many as he can get.
As I've mentioned earlier, the Jets have been linked to two slot WR's in the draft. They want to get faster there and have met twice with Phillip Dorsett.
Additionally, this will be a spread offense with quick rythym and less 5 to 7 step drops. I think this benefits Geno. The less he has to think, the better.

I know you think I'm overly optimistic here but I am pointing out truths, not exaggerations. Maybe the cast isn't much better but it won't be worse.

I will agree to disagree my man. I just don't see any remedy that can cure Geno of his horrid game that he presents every Sunday.

I understand. And that's completely reasonable. I just don't buy into this "certainty" that he can't succeed.

But your signature speaks to optimism. Why do you treat Geno so out-of-character for you?

I just can't be optimistic for Geno due to what i've seen from him. There's a distinct difference between Optimism and being a realist.

Again Sack, i judge him as a football player. What he does off the field is his own issue. Yet you feel i have this disdain personal hate for him. That i don't, i just don't think he is a very good QB based on what the whole nation has seen of him. He is mediocre at best.

Same discussions we've had on the old boards. Most recently with Stephen Hill. I did not like what i saw of him as a FOOTBALL player. It was evident that the regime he was under didnt like what they saw either. Hence he was cut. Didn't mean i HATE the person, hell i don't know him on that level.

You have this complete misconception that i "HATE THE GUY". Let me clear the air:

I don't hate the guy, i just don't like what he brings to the table as an NFL QB and i feel the Jets should continue to search for a better option. Yet your fixated on me with this pure hatred of him, either on this board or the past two other boards.

I'am just going to politely ask you to please stop accusing me of HATING the guy personally. I would like to keep this as civilized as possible on a great board that have cordially invited us into their community.

Where in this comment, or even on this board, have I said anything about you hating him? Maybe on the old board, but that was a long time ago.

You are the eternal optimist, yet you have been down on Geno since they drafted him. I have not seen you treat any other Jet this way.

If you can find a post on this board where I say you hate Geno, I will recant, and admit my error. Otherwise, give it a rest.

The QB position i take very seriously. I have never felt comfortable with Geno yet i gave him the benefit of the doubt at the start of last season. Remember we had argument upon argument on who to start the season. I screamed out Vick but you stated Geno, just for the mere fact on his age and to see if he can show something for that season if he would be our long term solution.

I kept my peace until the Buffalo game where he had 3 interceptions in 1 quarter. If anyone still had faith in him after that game, i don't care how "Eternal optimistic"that fan is, then it would be called being delusional.

I'am sorry Sack, but we've been waiting a long time for a franchise QB. I strongly feel Geno is not the answer based on what we all have seen of him.
I'am an optimist, but i aint no fool.

You seem to remember a lot about the old board, but somehow forget that I was rather harsh on Geno, as well, particularly after that performance.

Last year was important, as it showed us a lot about what Geno cannot do. That would not have happened if Vick started. If Vick played, how good would the Jets have been? Maybe a couple games better? But nothing would have been learned, and no development would have been done.

My problem is that you never gave Geno the chances you gave other guys. That said, nothing speaks to my question. I did not say a single word about you hating Geno in this thread, or even, if I recall, on this board. Yet you still bring it up.

I bring it up because it is something i take very personally. You brought it up last month (http://jets.forumotion.com/t29p325-geno-smith) "Dan does have a tendency to make presumptions of failure for Geno. He is very rah-rah with every other Jet, at least as I can remember. That is why his Geno hatred, and it is hatred, is so out-of-character."...(You can recant now)

(did you get a chance to read my rebuttle on what you stated on that board for that matter? I tried to explain it there as i'am doing right now)

Again Sack, i don't want to make this thread into a fan vs fan off topic issue. I just feel you've singled me out for the longest on Geno and the underlying factor is that you firmly feel that i hate the guy, as you stated last month, not "along time ago".

We have our differences of opinions on Geno. I feel he was never a good fit here in New York but i gave him the benefit of the doubt last year, yet he proved me that i was right about him all along. He is just a mediocre QB.

Let's just give it a rest Sack. We've been through this road countless times.
