Apparently, Calvin Pryor's job is not safe? Mac was indecisive about whether he plans keeping Pryor for a 5th season. I guess this means, do not be surprised if Adams or Hooker is the pick at #6? Of course there are many scenarios to go through as well? They could decide that Pryor would be better with surrounding players? Don't get me wrong, I still want to trade down a little bit and still get OJ Howard, but god knows if that's even possible?

The Pryor situation is an interesting one. Was he exposed from a flexibility standpoint in TB's defense? Can he only be an in the box safety? Was he the victim of misuse and poor surrounding secondary play? Fast forward, if paired with a safety like Hooker is he able to play at his more comfortable role and be successful? Or is he miscast in this defense and an ex-Jet before long? Should be interesting.

Calvin Pryor isn't a sideline to sideline safety, unless they are planning to make him a "spur" linebacker/safety a permanent role then we are in need of new blood and believe Rontez Miles might of moved up the depth chart because he is a bit better in coverage... They don't want to show their hand but for the sake of trading him they may take a 5th for him on draft day which is a slight to where he was drafted, but it is what it is and we should put faith in TB for at least this position since it is his...

The lingering question I have is what about Pryor's success in Bowles' first year? Was that some sort of aberration, or was I misjudging his performance. The latter may be altogether true, but he seemed to be really coming on.

the first year there was some learning process from TB on Pryor and what was his range... TB tried to put more on Pryor's plate and he flopped badly... Technique is one of his main problems, he is not a form tackler just a hard hitter that is looking for the knockout... In TB's defense he needs a rangy safety that can compliment the other safety in coverage as well as setting the edge or shooting the gaps as a blitzer... Doesn't have to be good at everything but has play with consistency which Pryor may not be able to do...

look how far Rontez Miles has come since under TB, looks like Pryor and Miles are going in two different directions...

To be completely objective and fair, you have to take his rookie season completely out of consideration. Way too many things working against him that season.

From there you have one good season (albeit with some good surrounding players) and you have one truly BAD season (albeit with players that had suddenly fallen off a cliff). If I am Mac and I am being completely objective and impartial about this, I keep Pryor for longer.

Besides, the Jets have so many holes in so many different areas, would it really kill the Jets not to draft a Safety and take a wait and see approach with Pryor? I don't think it would. Mac could easily just disregard Safety altogether in this draft, and still easily come away with excellent picks all over the team/BPA.

I agree with the overall argument, and with half your solution. In this case, I would say ignore SS, but that does not mean you pass on a truly talented FS if he is the BPA. It would help the entire secondary.

I keep Pryor as well. Last year I blame the poor defense on 2 things Revis and the terrible scheme used to try and mask the poor play by Revis

In my opinion. Pryor is only a good tackler when an opponent's back is turned so that Pryor can "blow him up." He is a terrible tackler in space. Furthermore, in pas defense he takes the worst angles I have ever seen from a supposedly good player. Having said that, I would not just cut him before the draft. If we wind up with Hooker, it is worth a try to see how Pryor would perform with a true center fielder.

I said Pryor was a BUST from day one of Drafting him & he hasnt proved me wrong yet. Pryor a hard hitting Safety that cant find someone to hit & when he does he bounces of like a FLY. LOL

Mikey talks the talk and thats all he has done. Biggest problem for Mikey is to stop getting fooled by other teams Hyping Players for other GM's like himself to be fooled into Drafting a high risk 7th round ranked poor player in first or second round. How many Tom Brady's has happened in NFL Draft? I only known 1 and its Tom Brady not Hackenburg.
