We Did It Again

Well we did it again Jet fans. We managed to blow rebuild #4 of the last ten years. Todd Bowles coaching for his job managed to win just enough games to destroy our tank and build our playoff dream while at the same time ending it in Jet fashion with a crushing shutout loss to a terrible Broncos team. We must now sit and watch as we have been locked out of both clubs, those with a high draft pick and those with playoff contention....Thank You Todd!

We will also now get to witness the brain trust pick yet another quarterback which they will surely over-reach for...probably after they use our first round pick on the defense (we always do this) - and besides Todd always needs a defensive player especially since our 1st round pick loaded defense cant stop the run, the pass, or even show up to meetings, walkthrus, and birthday parties.

Better still Mac will pick the quarterback and this way we can ensure yet another guy that will never see the field. Mind you this is after he spends the war chest on B and C level free agents that will poison the locker room.

McCown will be back on a 12 million dollar deal as well. And for good measure Bowles will make him the 2018 season starter even though he will revert to his true self - a backup quarterback of even lower caliber than Fitzpatrick.

At the end of 2018, the johnsons will fire the duo and bring in the next GM and coach. Of course, as history repeats itself, our ownership will this time flip back to the loud mouth brash versions (because we can never get a solid middle ground) of coaches. These guys will start rebuild #5. Oh, and dont forget we will once again get a defensive coordinator as HC, and probably a idzik type as GM because we will have no cap after all the FA spending in 2018.

Our only hope is Johnson selling this team or dying.......Sad really. Here is to 2030.

Depressing to read but all true. Another 5 win season. Maybe 6 if the pats lay down and if that happens, Mac & Bowles will take credit for the "improvement" over last season and will shoot for 7 next year.

What is this obsession on this board with hoping failure for Mac and especially Bowles? I'm sorry they weren't bad enough this year for Jets fans.

Probably these are the same fans that want Rex Ryan back... Are also upset that we canned John Idzik after two seasons... :global (34):

Can’t totally agree with this thread here. I get your point but this isn’t about tanking and never should be. It’s about rebuilding and reloading with the young talent they have. It’s obviously the direction they were going so why not do it all way with the QBs as well? McCown was a slightly better or worse version of Fitzgarbage. IMO it totally defeated the purpose of playing him if you were rebuilding and reloading a young team. It’s not like he’s Farve, Testerverde, Cutler, Romo or Eli Manning. He’s McCown, a 15 year, 7 team reject, career backup QB. So why play him if your rebuilding and you want to go in that direction? Try to win every game but do it with your young QBs also. Don’t tank, try to win but do it with all your young talent. My past post and started threads was never on tanking but rebuilding and reloading with all the young talent we have. Including the QBs, mainly Hack but both if needed. If they failed then so be it but play them all damn year long and see what we have in them. See if they can learn and get better during the season. See if they can grow and develop with the team and if not, we’ll know to go the QB route in this years draft.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. How true that is.

My point is if you play to win then play to win then you better win! Dont tell me Bowles is a good coach but yet brings us a 23-0 blowout loss to a team that hasnt won a game since the beginning of the season when you have playoffs on the line. Dont tell me hes a good coach when he quits on our offense and doesnt call a time out. Dont tell me he is a good coach when we blow leads constantly in the 4th quarter.

Dont tell me he is a good coach when he rather stick to his guns with losers like McCown or Fitzpatrick rather then send in a young guy to evaluate when its clear we are in rebuild mode....unless you bet all your money on winning and if that is the case then he should be fired for this season, the last season, and the season before that (when he again lost the big game to a pathetic buf team and kept us out of the playoffs).

He is a terrible head coach - yes he may be a decent coordinator that can develop young guys (although he has never been able to put together a strong defense in his entire time as coach with the jets) - but he is a terrible, terrible, terrible head coach.

And Mac may be good at sniffing out some young talent - but lets be real.........he cant pick a QB to save his life. So what is the point....how many more chances is it worth? And no - if you read what I stated I in no way want another rex ryan - but its the cycle we go from one extreme to the other throughout the woody years. And we always draft defense in the first round. I ran the numbers in another post a while back in the last fifthteen years its something ridiculous like 95% def picks...

Why is bowles a great coach - is it because the media is poor talent evaluators and couldnt realize the jets roster wasnt the worst in the league? If they didnt say 3 wins total and they said 5 wins total would you still be singing Bowles praise? Again, if wins do not matter and we are rebuilding then why arent we playing the young guys all season? Because wins matter. Therefore, I count them like I see them.

If you want a pass, you play the young guys and if you lose - its autotank and onto the next QB drafted. Otherwise "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME" and thats how you are judged. We have an inept coach that in 3 years has failed to get us to the playoffs. Bombed in every critical game and has two losing seasons. But because Robby Anderson can catch the long ball and McCown had some good stats - Bowles should have another year?????? Are you serious man?????

I get where you coming now and can totally agree with this. Like I said in one of my other post, they should have given TB a mulligan year this year with the team they put on the field for him. Maybe then he would have played Hack (mainly) and Petty if Hack sucked that bad. Then again, we are talking about TB who appears will always favor his vets so maybe not.

Honestly, I think you're being just a little unfair with this? When has Mac signed FA's B and C that have poisoned the locker room? I know Tanny did it with resigning Holmes, but there's no evidence that any of Mac's acquisitions have done any of that? Are you thinking Brandon Marshall because he didn't get along with Sheldon? Sheldon is an asshole and I'm glad Mac dealt him whether Marshall was on the team or not?

You also had to know Toilet would win as many games as he possibly could? He'd just finished 2016 with a 5-11 record and everyone, including the media, was talking about him potentially being dismissed from his job? He wants to remain employed making the big money. I'm sure even Toilet himself knows that he is incapable of winning as a HC of an NFL team, but he'll NEVER admit to it. He likes his money and he's always going to milk that cash cow for as long as he possibly can. With how well McCown played in 2017, you had to know McCown would be back. There are no other QB's on the Jets roster. Besides McCown's once in a great while look of competent play, they all suck. I doubt neither Petty and certainly not Hack would ever make it with another team? Hack is the worst QB I think I've ever seen besides maybe Ryan Leaf? Petty is at best depth and no more.

But back on Mac you're most certainly correct about the QB thing. He cannot pick a QB to save his life and that must change or else he's finished. Jets fans will be over him if he picks another dud QB in the draft. He must get it right this time or else Mac will move on from him.

All I can tell you is that should give Mac one more shot at really getting this team rolling. Sure, they suck right now but they look a lot better than anyone thought...........

The thing your missing is, if Petty or Hack started, the team would not have developed and progressed the way they did. I know it doesn't fit the let's loose 16 games hopes and dreams many had but it's the truth.

Fool me once...shame on you, fool me twice....shame on me. You really want to give Mac a third time. We are a professional sports franchise, if the guy is inept with the most important position you fire him quickly. If you are at work and your employee keeps screwing up - how many chances do you give?

Who developed and progressed that wouldnt of otherwise?

Really at the end of the day the only guys on offense that have developed are anderson and McGuire....Anderson was on his way from last season, and McGuire might have had more opportunities to run with a rookie. Other than that you have to look to darren lee on defense which has nothing to do with QB and the jury is still out on him anyway. There is no other player development this season.

Because they lose too much, or because they won too much this year?

I'd say , both. They have been just mediocre for a very long time. not good enough to win the superbowl and not bad enough to get a franchise qb. but what kills me the most is that after seeing brady stand in the pocket for 10 seconds at a pop for the last 18 years no one has figured out that we need an offensive line

You have figured it out and so have i, now how do we get this message to the Jets FO. First round picks supporting the D does no good when ZERO points are scored. It's not brain surgery...Mikey Mac
