We Have Our Franchise QB

I’m still confident. One of the traits that he has already demonstrated is resilience. He has the right personal qualities, as well as all of the necessary physical tools. He absolutely played a terrible game last week, even beyond the horrific lack of adjustments made by the coaches. My only fear is that our terrible coaching and horrific offensive line will make even Sam gun shy, or even worse, cause him to suffer a serious injury.

To me, talk of drafting another QB with our first pick next year is absurd. We need to draft stud offensive linemen, Of course, due to terrible drafting, we have many other needs as well. I am so disgusted with our ownership. To allow Mac to run free agency and the draft and *then* fire him was crazy. For all of you who have suffered for decades, as have I, the common denominator is incompetent owners. The whole deal reminds me of the Knicks, who allowed Phil Jackson to run the draft, and then fired him. By the way, some of you younger members might not know that the alternative to the Johnsons was the Dolans. That family is even worse. That is largely why Belichick resigned as HC of the NYJ.

I still believe in Darnold. Monday night was definitely a bad night for him and he said he saw ghosts because the Pats were up his ass all night. We have an awful offensive staff. The OL is the worst in the league. Can't block the pass and can't block the run. Having Bell doesn't help at all because his running style doesn't work with this OL. And Gase can't scheme him open. I'm 99% sure the Jets will ruin Darnold, but I hold out 1% chance that his resiliency can overcome the Jets 50 years of dysfunction. If the Jets don't re-sign Darnold I will follow him to his next team. Thats how much I like him.

I saw the title of this thread and came to see what qb we traded for and who's career we would ruin next. Turns out it's just Darnold and we have already ruined him

You said it best with the firing Mac after the off-season was pretty much completed. Dumbest fucking move ever. They should have fired him years ago but being that, that didn’t happen it should have happened when Bowles got fired. Give the new GM (I’m assuming it would have Douglas) and Gase a chance to start at that point together. We’ll never know what they might have been able to pull off and now Darnold is paying for it. Actually the entire team is and so are we (fans).

Don't give up on the D man. He may be a star yet.
If he's not destroyed permanently yet, we will surely keep him long enough to complete the job

Once someone else realizes, acually, with this team I have to say "if" someone realizes the importance of an offensive line, we're not just gonna build a great one over night. It takes years and by then Darnold is ruined. Sorry guys I'm ready it in my Jet tea leaves right now

Heck, we all thought the addition of Osemele and Kalil would help and it has actually made us worse. I don't even know how that is possible. Anyone who can explain that, please do. My only explanation is Gase has no clue about football and if that's true we all know how the next 3 years will go until he's fired

Hey Jets brass! There is one team in football that stands out above the rest. They aren't even far from us if you want to go watch a game in person rather than watch on tv. We have been humiliated by then for 20 years. Get an f ing clue and just copy what they do. If you can't figure out what that is, I'll just tell you. They protect their damn quarterback all day friggin long!

its funny as far as OL goes the Cards have been in the same boat as the Jets for the last few years......But CH in one year they may have righted the ship (we will find out over the next few weeks (two tough teams) But as of today they are playing much better with the run & pass. Good coach & some new or healed players......It can be done

As Jet fans, we've seen the entire spectrum between good and bad.
Pennington had so much promise to be a HOF QB, but injuries doomed us.
Vinnie was a great leader, his teams just didn't have enough talent to get over the top.
Sanchez may not have had a lot of talent, but the dysfunctional office did everything possible to ruin him.
I give Sanchez credit for his play in the playoffs. He held his own against Payton, Tom, and Ben. Ryan's defense forgot to show up when the Superbowl was within reach. People diss Sanchez, and that wasn't fair, he had ZERO support from the organization.
I only hope we don't ruin Sam because ownership is so dysfunctional. I wish we could find our own Robert Kraft.

Here's the thing - I don't want a Robert Kraft/Belichick/Brady franchise. I can't stand any of them - between the whining on the field, the gimmicky offense that Brady runs, the punk players on the roster, the arrogance and unsportmanship of Belichick, and Kraft's manipulation of the league - no thanks.

I want us to have a franchise that we can be proud of - not one that is hated by just about everyone outside of New England. So what does that look like:

1. Tough, physical, smart football players - that play a very physical brand of football. (Think Rex's teams).
2. A team with an explosive offense - that can wear you out with the running game, but win with a downfield passing game.
3. A physical and intimidating defense that no one wants to play.
4. High character players on and off the field.
5. A GM that knows how to build a roster from the inside out, starting with the QB and the lines.
6. A owner that has that vision.
7. Most importantly, a team that contend almost every year for a decade, and win at least one Super Bowl.

Build that. And then we have something.

Well? I sure hope so but... You said good coach. As of right now it sure looks like we are looking for one of those too. Or 2. Head coach and offensive line coach

Darn! I thought the Jets traded the entire Team and got Aaron Rogers when I read the topic "Jets got their franchise QB"! We all know deep inside that Sam Darnold is NOT a Franchise QB. He is a 20 to 32 career ranked QB at best. Out of the 5 QB's from that year Draft he is 4th behind Bills-Ravens-Browns QB's. Right now Sam is barely holding on to 4th over Rosen at 5 and could change to 5 if Darnold gets terror in his eyes throwing passes up for grabs again.

No way is our whole team even close to worth the value of Aaron Rogers. Are you nuts?!
