I'll never forget that day.
One of my daughters was supposed to fly from NY to LA that day on a business trip. We didn't know if she was on one of the flights that crashed. There were no cell phones in those days, and we later found out that she was trapped in a traffic jam on the bridge to the airport, with no way of getting off. Her husband, who was in the military, kept calling us every hour to ask if he had heard from her. We hadn't.
It wasn't until later that afternoon that she got diverted away from the airport, ended up at the house of one of her traveling companions who had ben in the car with her, and was able to call us to let us know she was ok.
But in the intervening hours until we heard from her, we were in sheer panic.

Yeah, the don’t think none of will! I was in Ft. Sam Houston doing some military training and they stopped our classes to turn to one of the News feed channels as it was happening. They then put the base on the highest threat lock down. I couldn’t believe something like this was happening in my city, my country! I couldn’t get in touch with any family or friends back home and I still had and have many in New York, New Jersey and even some in the D.C area.

One of my closest friends worked in the World Trade Center but wasn’t working that day. Another one of my friends saw the entire tragedy because all train movement stopped of course and he couldn’t catch the New Jersey transit from there. My cousin is a fully licensed unionized fork lift driver and was part of the clean up crew and he saw the aftermath. Something he said he never forget. You can only imagine what he saw! God bless everyone of our fallen and who suffered through this tragedy!

Note: Correction on something I originally said, I just spoke to my friend who worked in the World Trade Center and it wasn’t that he didn’t work the day of 9/11. He actually stop working in the World Trade Center a month before the tragedy occurred, and he was working a floor above where the plane hit in Tower 1. WOW!
