I remember playing youth football, early 80s, being on a team that went undefeated, unscored upon. But that doesn't make it a realistic expectation.

Me either, I've been giving them nothing but praise, but I've seen dominant defenses and I can list all of the dominant D-lines over the past 40 Years, and dominant D-Lines don't let teams march down the field to win games or reestablish momentum at halftime. The dominant D-lines I have seen in my lifetime become even more ferocious when they smell blood. If this D-line wants to enter that conversation, and they should, they certainly have enough talent, they need to have more of a killer instinct. Thats my only point.
Even the best defensive lines have occasionally let teams drive for field goals.
I'm not sure how anyone in this organization survives with the expectations of this fan base.
Sack, you and I have different expectations for this D-Line. I look at this D-line and I see ridiculous talent across the board. I see shades of the Steel Curtain, Doomsday, the Fearsome Foursome, the Purple People Eaters, Buddy Ryan's Eagles, and last but not least, the 85 Bears.
Thats how high my expectations are for this D-Line and IMO their expectations should be that high as well, but you cannot enter that conversation until you develop a KILLER INSTINCT, and IMO thats the one thing thats lacking with this D-line so far, they are not burying teams when they have them down. If you wanna enter that conversation, its not enough to be dominant, you have to be dominant when it matters most, closing out half's and games. You have to go for the kill when you have a team on their heels.
Bills have shot their wad.
Each of those lines gave up an occasional drive. Each one of them. And sometimes, those drives ended halves.
High expectations for a unit as talented as this D-line is not unreasonable.
They should have the same high expectations for themselves.

Not that I have seen. Wesley Johnson has played well in pass pro, his false start aside.
He made that play with his legs, and with horrible secondary play. HE GOT FLUSHED FROM THE POCKET!!!
You CANNOT blame that long TD on the DL. That's ridiculous. A less mobile QB is buried on that play.
The secondary is a huge achilles' heel. Huge.
How do you leave a guy that alone? Crowd is back in the game. MFer this going down to the last second.
If you have more than one guy applying the heat, he can't escape the pocket and heave it down field.
