So isn't losing this game instead of winning it a great result? Wouldn't a win have just hurt their draft capital? They proved they could play with a playoff team from last year without hurting their draft capital.

Jets lost, but not ugly. Game was ugly, but the loss wasn't.
And I have seen many, many ugly losses.
Been a fan since the late 70s. So if you're double, that would mean you have been a fan of the team some 30-40 years before it was founded.

I'm not doubting you. I mean, it's entirely possible you were a Jets fan in the 40s and 50s, before the team was founded, so you don't need to double those years.
All wins hurt their draft and any win that doesn't help them to the playoffs is meaningless. I would rather them get beat not do the same thing we have seen for decades and lose a game they had won. Hey @Bigmoe Tyler Warren just scored. It's ok though, our TE's had 22 yards today.

OK, so after a cooling down period and a decent amount of time to hopefully be thinking a little bit more clearer, I still see hope in this season. I will admit that this game has brought me back to reality, but I still do have hope for our team.
Before the preseason games and all the hope came in, I originally thought this team would win 5 to 6 games. Maybe 7, if they were truly lucky! After the preseason games and of course, after game one, I was thinking maybe 8 to 9 wins.
So I’ll split it down the middle and still say that they can win 7 or 8 games but they have a lot to clean up. Both the offense and defense fell apart when it counted most, and that was late in the game and there’s no excuse for it. We won’t even talk about Williams and his two muffed punts.
The Jets had this game well in hand and they had the momentum and they just gave it away. If some way, somehow they could figure out a way to not do that, they can manage to get to 7 to 8 wins. They have the talent and toughness to at least accomplish that. I believe so, anyway!

But if the team is not a serious Super Bowl contender, doesn't losing a close game to a playoff team from last year end up being the perfect result? I mean, that's what I would take from this.
