Week 3 Game Thread: All other Games

It was awful. Three games, including two of their tougher games, and in both of those "tough" games, the other team just totally plays terribly.

Not outcoached. Belichick did outcoach O'Brien on some level, but Belichick isn't a genius because the Texans coughed up the ball on kickoff after kickoff. Does anyone think Belichick is the only guy who tells his players not to fumble?

Belichick should get credit for both the defense pinning back the Texans all night, and for an offensive scheme that limited Brissett's ability to lose the game. But the breaks were all a combination of terrible Houston play and bad luck. Hell, even when the Pats put it on the turf, it bounced right to one of their own guys.

My answer to this would have to be yes, IF there was a point for us, as there was for Pats fans, where they got to win a Super Bowl BEFORE any of this was known. Even if after the fact, we found out it was tainted, the joy in that moment would be so great and so real, I would have to sign up for it. But I'd rather have someone like Tom Coughlin instead, who won Super Bowls without cheating (although IMO they were SUPER lucky).

It's been so long, I want that next one to be completely pure and untainted. That is something the Pats will never, ever have.

I think this largely washes out over the course of a season. You win a few games you should lose, you lose a couple you should win. While it is frustrating to lose games you should win, we are looking at it from a biased Jets perspective. We may not recognize it as much when it happens the other way.
True, but the problem is that J82 is correct about the Pats, they rarely lose games they should win. Heck, as we have seen over the past few weeks, despite Brady's suspension and no Gronk, they even win the games they should lose. So when you are in a division with the Pats, you don't have the luxury of being like every other team in the league that occasionally loses games they should win. Thats why the Pats have won the division for what is it now, a hundred straight years?

Thats why that Cinci loss bothered me as much as it did, because I know the Pats don't let you lose games you should win and live to tell about it. In any other division you can be normal, but if you want to win the AFCE, you have to be abnormal.

I don't necessarily agree with this. Even for them, they lose games they should win.

Losing to the Jets last year in OT? Broncos in OT? The EAGLES?!? And then collapsing against the Dolphins in a Week 17 game that could have gotten them home field?

Agree. But during that period where we didn't know it was tainted, it would still be great. That version of me, living in a state of unawareness, would be very happy! Ultimately, I'd like to win without cheating.

You are correct my friend. In the AFCE, you can't afford to lose any games because you have to deal with the Pats and their record. Cheating or no cheating they are guaranteed to win 11-14 games a season. So if any other team in the division doesn't win every game they can and are supposed to, not only will you not win the AFCE but you probably won't even make the playoffs. Because your dealing with other AFC teams that have won 10-12 games and a few of those teams probably have the tie breaker because they beat you during the season. It's a lose-lose in most situations and we were the perfect example of it last year.

What i find MOST offensive about last night is, the friggin' Patriots say Gronk is active and they do not throw him ONE pass. Total decoy.
And i start him in our Jet FF league and get NADA from him.
Even when i try to root for a Patriot, they screw me.

same here. I haven't drafted a Pat in a decade and this year I go with Gronk

Yup. I'm playing you and the Pats screwed me again. I started Edelman only because I thought he might play some QB. All I can hope for is that Edelman makes a jump in targets when his butt buddy Brady comes back.

Last time I drafted a Patriot was the year after Brady threw 50 TD's. And he tore his ACl. I was hoping to draft him hoping to have the same luck.

Cardinals are not that good. We can beat them.

I doubt it.

There is no way the same team that played horribly against the Pats AND the Bills will play horribly against the Jets. They will look far more like last year's team against the Jets.

It's just the way things always happen for us.
