Week 3 Game Thread: NY Jets @ KC Chiefs

The one thing about Smith is, he's not as mobile as what the Jets faced in Buffalo. He leans more toward Dalton in the pocket, though he's probably somewhere in between Dalton and Taylor.

Get to him early, don't let him escape the pocket, and he will find his struggles. Now, he may burn the secondary a few times (something we've already seen too much). But he absolutely can be contained.

Alex thrives on the medium passing game, using linebackers in the rush plaids into his strength.

Darron Lee using range in the middle and getting pressure on 3 and 4 man rushes, may take away his panic throw.
I'm interested to see how we defend him.

Alex Smith is very mobile.. He was much more of a running QB in College than the pros but watch his College and NFL highlights when he runs. He can move

Agreed...two types of QBs are hard for us to defend. ones who can run & dinker dunkers...he's both. it will be fun to watch what they do with him.

Kansas City played very sloppy and i suspect Reid will have them all cleaned up to play us this Sunday. I also expect Bowles to have us mentally right not to shoot ourselves in the foot. Two weeks in a row we have made our opponents look bigger than what they are.

This will be a great game at 4:25pm. Sound football.

The Jets handled the Bills home crowd well last Thursday. That bodes well for us, considering the hostile environment in KC. We showed a lot of poise on offense despite the noise. Don't recall many motion/pre snap penalties.

It sounds cliche, but on the road, you have to get off to a good start. Like an opening drive TD.

I would play him how the Patriots did,line up against the number 2wr, and double the number 1 with skrine and Gilchrist. Then obviously disguising coverage goes from there.

Key Stats in KC/Houston game:

Texans had 4 sacks, 8 TFL, 9 QB hits.

Smith QBR 68.1

Maclin was targeted 15 times and only caught 6 passes

The running backs caught 13 passes in week 1 and only 3 (5 targets) in week 2

So Brandon Marshall and Carpenter are back practicing today, obviously a great sign for Sunday.

Brandon Marshall was limited in practice and he's being called a game-time decision, though he sounds like a go too, but officially he's listed as questionable.

Brandon Marshall was limited in practice and he's being called a game-time decision, though he sounds like a go too, but officially he's listed as questionable.

Unless Marshall is trying to be coy about his status, it sure sounds like he's doubting his ability to play Sunday. He's usually very confident about playing with minor injuries. It sounds like they could rest him and go with Enunwa and Decker. They also activated a TE off the practice squad.
