[h=3]31. NEW YORK JETS[/h] [h=4]Average offensive lineman grade: 46.8[/h]
The Jets offensive line is has allowed 10 sacks so far this season, tied for fourth-most. But overall, their offensive line has not been that bad in pass protection as they rank 18th in the league by allowing 45 total pressures, including the 10 sacks, on 168 pass-blocking snaps. However, they have been unable to replace center Nick Mangold so far as Wesley Johnson currently ranks 34th among 34 qualifying centers with an overall grade of 32.4. The Jets offensive line has also struggled in the running game as they average just 1.02 yards before contact on inside zone runs, their most frequently used run concept.

this is a problem, and will continue to hinder progression and development of this team...

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how well the OL has played? I am definitely not accepting this long term, but I am actually surprised at how well in particular Brandon Shell has played?

If this OL is still playing the same way next season at this time, every fan should have a problem with Mac and Toilet. But for right now, and assuming they can continue to improve, I like what I am seeing.....

Unfortunately, we have a gaping hole at center and until that is fixed we will have issues. Would love to see MM address OL in a long term manner - draft and young FA. No more one year fixes. Am hoping that Petty or Hack can be long term solution at QB so he can use premium picks at OT and C.

I know they time could heal the problems with what seems to be chemistry on the offensive line for me I truly believe the scheme is at fault which is apparent with all the penalties this line keeps occurring week to week...

it does start at Center like Old#15 says we need to find a replacement for long term, as Wesley Johnson hasn't shown growth or potential in his uneven play to this point...
as for left tackle think we are stuck with Beachum, which isn't a good thing...
another questionable piece on this line is Brian Winters but have to believe after this season his status could be revisited with all the injuries he keeps piling up...
James Carpenter is far the best player on the line but his play as of late makes one question if he deserves to continue after this season...

two ascending options are both at right tackle in Brent Qvale who showed potential to be an effective interior lineman... the other is second year man Brandon Shell who has the upside but what is his shelf? he has proved that he is a capable right tackle and has improved his footwork to where he could compete at the other tackle position moving forward but the true ability of a left tackle is having the diverse ability through athleticism that one could turn into power to fend off all rushers which I still don't see him having the ability but it isn't something someone is born with but something that can be developed over time...

after these six we have no depth or potential for long term success which is concerning...
