No, to me it didn't look like Byrd. With Byrd, it was the crown of the helmet hitting directly with Mercereau.

Mauldin didn't hit anything with the crown of his helmet. He may have hit the side of his head to the turf, or got it sandwiched under Manziel's body, but I just think it's an entirely different type injury. Plus, if he got up for a couple steps, that would suggest it's not a fractured spine. You don't take any steps if you fracture your spine.
