What are the chances the Jets finally trade down?

I am hearing that Joe Douglas has been fielding a few calls about possibly stockpiling some additional picks... He has in mind who he likes and what I heard none of the top so called tackles are in the running... There are 6 second tier tackles that he likes better than the two top left tackles and the top two right tackles...

Also hear that Ben Bartch is high on Joe Douglas' list of possible Jets targets... Bartch is an early day 3 prospect that a team could take late day 2 just because of the shelf... Some scouts have him as a Guard at this level others have him as a project left tackle with potential...

Pairing Pittman Jr. with Darnold is in the cards, Jets like these three as well as first round possibles:
  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Henry Ruggs
  • Justin Jefferson
I believe Joe Douglas willingly will trade down if the right offer(s) come along, that is my belief... We have so many needs and we filled some short term needs but we need long term talent, depth and potential... Being this draft is deep in many positions we won't have to reach unless a player(s) fall into their lap that they can not pass up on...

This is very intriguing. In another thread, I advocated taking one of the consensus top four tackles. However, if your information is correct, that opens up many possibilities. In the other thread, Jackson, Jones, and Cleveland were mentioned as alternatives to the “top four” OTs. In truth, it doesn’t matter who Kiper, McShay, etc. have listed as the top picks at a given position or overall. Only Douglas’ board matters. Maybe we can get his top tackle at 18 or so for a second round or early third round pick and then trade back up to grab his targeted wide receiver . We already have an extra third round pick, thanks to the Giants. If you are correct, Day 2 could be much more exciting than day 1.

I'm hopeful this happens. I have been a proponent of a trade down for a while because there are better fits for the OL that can be had later in round 1 and perhaps round 2. Getting a round 1 pick in the teens or early twenties plus additional day two pick(s) could be a windfall for re-stocking the roster.

As a former Division III offensive lineman, I would love to see the Jets bring in Bartch.

Bartch is someone who can understudy for a season behind Fant and with a solid year of crafting his technique to pair with his athleticism we could have a steal of a prospect for years to come...

Talent comes at every level, just have to find the drive of a player and see if he can handle the bright lights of New York and have enough composure to handle the ridiculous annoying press that is our trailer trash media groups...

I think he is one of those diamond in the roughs that can make it with any team that gives him a fighting chance, and with Joe Douglas as our GM a former offensive lineman himself may do everything to make sure Bartch succeeds if we do take him...
