Should also be interesting to see what we do at CB in the event Cro is a salary cap casualty. In an ideal world Dee should be the guy who replaces him, but his inability to stay healthy may find him on the street.
Marcus Williams is the next guy up... Leads the team with interceptions, being a role player that is dominance and deserves a chance at the starting job...
Dee Milliner's contract is fully guaranteed next season and if he can not stay healthy like Quinton Coples they will waive him mid season... He has the talent, let's not get that wrong... I was thrilled we drafted him knew his durability issues could be a concern but with the rookie salary cap set it was a risk well worth taken... Basically had potential of evolving into the next Revis if he could stay healthy but since he is made of glass he is likely done with us...
Dexter McDougle has proven he can play... He has the ability to play outside but looks better inside... With that saying maybe moving Buster Skrine to coverage safety might be a better fit...
Marcus Gilchrist has play outstanding for us this year but he is NO coverage safety...
I am stoked to see Calvin Pryor to have a rebound season from the rookie year...
Cromartie likely will be a cap casualty, even if he is willing to restructure he is done...
Darrelle Revis has lost a step, but all season long people have been bitching not realizing he was playing the system that was installed... Just not having the proper coverage over the top when he thought it would be - miscommunication or missed assignments by others made him look bad... Like in the Buffalo game week 17 he was in a zone off man coverage supposedly with under coverage that was M.I.A. by the OLB or safety...
This secondary would do good adding someone this off season... But the person they add needs to be a known special teams addition... Justin Bethel, Cardinals ex-Bowles corner could be an option... There are going to be plenty others... We could retain Darrin Walls but he for some reason he had no role on defense, writing on the wall I suppose...
Finally, in retrospect how lucky were we that Leonard Williams fell into our hands in last years draft. With Mo's injury and Sheldon's probable additional suspension, we will be dangerously thin along the defensive front next year.
Well last year were a few teams ahead of us that took for need, as most here would disagree rather taking BPA... Yes we took BPA, because there was no offer good enough to trade down... Looking at the financials of this off season was also the main reason they took Williams because they had a feeling that preliminary view was one or two could be gone... So, yes we were lucky that some teams alla the Washington Redskins took OG Brandon Scherff rather than DE Leonard Williams...
