Jets Top 2 Priorities are simple Offensive Tackle & Outside Linebacker...

If we go Outside Linebacker there is one intriguing OLB from Notre Dame to keep an eye on, yes he was injured recently in a Bowl game but his diversity able to adapt to either a 3-4 or 4-3 makes him enticing even though he will likely start the season on the PUP list:

Jaylon Smith: The below snap shot is the scouting mock report...

Looking at the offensive side of the ball - the Jets running game needs to be upgraded. Rather than label one specific position as the need I believe HOW you address the offense determines what position/player you really need. For instance, I firmly believe Chris Ivory should not be the lead back for a couple of reasons. 1. He is slowing down, whether that be age and/or injuries. 2. As result of the age/injuries he is not hitting the hole/2nd level fast enough for the Jet blockers. You can then address the quality of the offensive line or you need a faster RB that hits those holes and exploits 2nd level. Ivory is kind of a one trick pony and needs more elite blocking to create the holes, but I'd rather have a RB that can not only see/hit the hole, but also can create space by change of direction. I don't want to expose Powell (if resigned) to that grind. I'd rather keep him fresh for the role he played this season. I say all this in the vein that they can't afford to upgrade everything. I'd rather address RG than the whole right side which would involve RT as well as changing the offensive sets to include a legit 2 way TE blocking. They had crap this year in terms of blocking TE, not to mention the receiving aspect. Draft a RB within the first 4 picks. I would use FA to upgrade WR options and racetrack them against Devin Smith. He shouldn't be handed anything. Kerley needs to be dealt for a pick.

Defense: Outside pass rusher is paramount. They have enough bodies to figure out the secondary even after letting Cro go (or give him a substantial pay cut). Focus has to be on that outside collapsing threat. 4 man rushes were a disaster in Buffalo. Too often the QB was untouched and if pressured there was no outside containment to prevent Tyrod from either taking off or buying enough time to find a receiver. That has to change. I don't think the science of picking that guy in the draft is as sound as FA, but then you have cost issues there. That's where it may be apparent they have to deal one of the DL. They're not gonna franchise tag Snacks so that limits their options with him. He's the one they can most afford to lose, IMO...but they get nothing for him. I'm not sure the answer is a DE or OLB...but whatever it is, it must have edge speed. They can use some speed infused to the LBs - that unit is slow. Pace can't pass rush fast enough and I find Davis slow in too many areas - can't have him and Harris together on field.

Certainly they need some players. OL, WR, LB, FB, RB? But more than anything they need a KILLER INSTINCT. I'm sorry but all the while they were on their winning streak they were never able to put the pedal to the metal. They always played down to their competition. When they played the Cowboys that was a team that they should have slaughtered, instead the game was in doubt until the very last seconds. They just do not have it and if they want to build a championship? They must get it. I'm talking about a dynamic team that will put your lights out early. The Patsies are like that and it kills me to say that. I wish the Jets had that factor going into each and every game.
