What do the Jets need to do in order to change the culture?

Johnson wants to have Jets change culture. That right there is comedy. Johnsons lucked out with Rex Ryan and GM Tanny who put together a great Jets team with an average QB and went 1 game from big show in first 2 Rex years. Rex change culture big time in so many ways. What happened? Johnsons fired GM and hired idiot at GM till firing Rex and then hired a bad Coaches and Gm till now. This year and Drafting QB and moves will say a lot. Cant go into next season with Darnold last season and not have a QB for future while rebuiding. Cant keep Darnold unless your paying him 35 to 40 mil that he isnt worth. Lets see how good he is evaluating skilled positions at QB that Jets lacked since 1965 the last great Jets QB till today thats needed.

No need to force a lesser QB either. Darnold would cost less than 10 mill next season. The second pick will bring a haul for this draft and next.
If Darnold puts in the necessary work this off season ( like Allen and Lamar have done) he can greatly improve his accuracy and make strides. If he fails to do so, we will be in position to take a QB in 2022. That QB would be coming into a much better situation and the Jets will still have multiple first second and third round picks to improve the roster even further.
Plus Darnold can be franchise tagged for the same ammount as his 5th year option if necessary so hes not getting $35-40 million .
The culture under Rex was that of a circus. There was no discipline, no accountability , on or off the field, and Ryan was the biggest clown of all.

General Manager Joe Douglas thinks otherwise...
Robert Saleh also believes in Sam, which he stated in his in person meeting...
but you are the wise man and everyone should stop what they are doing and listen to you... (sarcasm <<<)

like I said before and keep saying Sam has a solid base as a franchise QB... has he done anything to worth a 5th year team option, no but we dont know how they will approach that right now... they could accept and hope for the best, but next year he is under contract for $9,794,266 & his 5th year team option will be around $25 Million...

so it isn't a huge risk because the cap next year is suppose to dwindle a bit, which will also pull down those 5th years and Restricted contracts...

Look Sam has been a failure so far. If they see that he has future here what can we do LOL.. They are with him everyday we are not. I have seen may QB's do well after a bad start. even Phil Simms.......but will he be Poor, good or great???????? I would be surprised if he becomes great but lets put a great team around him & see. It is beyond us. But as of today he stinks lol IMO. Maybe they will draft someone.........IMO I think he will be the QB here next year.

agreed. if we can combine some picks and move up next year( hoping we don't have the #1 pick of our own merit) we will be in a way better position to bring in a new qb

best would be if Sam does this summer what Josh Allen did last summer

As you know, I was anti Darnold from day 1. Hammered him before his second season at USC.
I still think Darnold is his own worst enemy. Allen improved his accuracy by over 10% this off season by improving his footwork. You can not get away with throwing off a bad platform in this league, even the few outliers like Mahomes get their hips squared. Thats is why I dont think Fields is worth the second pick. If Darnold puts in the work, the correct work, I do believe he can improve.
I also believe that improvement will boost his confidence, which IMO has been shattered and is the biggest factor in his regression. He sees the right target but is too slow to take the shot allowing the window to close. With the right offseason work, the right system and improved talent around him, I believe he can .
If not you draft your QB next season. Just off the top of my head Howell and Rattler will be available, both would be ahead of this years class minus Lawrence if eligible and both have multiple wins against top competition. No reason to try and force a QB if the FO and CS are not sold on any prospects.

He works with Allen every off season. This past off season Darnold stated he didn't change his footwork or mechanics because it was comfortable for him. Hopefully the new staff outlines very clearly what the expect for him to work on the next 4-5 months and he is receptive to it. With a new staff and better roster, if he doesent, his NFL career will likely be over.
As for the schedule, the first half turned out to be what should have been fairly easy. We caught every break imaginable, though we did have our own issues as well.

Tony I would put him on dancing with the stars but he does not qualify.......You need to be a star first...do we know who his ghost friend is that may help.

yeah. he has to listen or he's done. was pretty amazed reading that Sam essentially didn't want tochange for the better. now he has no choice.

I was more so thinking of last years schedule . The season was over before it started. I' m good with bradys last 4 games on his schedule. atlanta twice, detroit, minesota. we need a start like that. and when we make the playoffs hopefully we draw a team with a losing record and a backup qb that no one ever heard of.
