What does a successful season look like to you?

All in all I'm expecting a very successful season. Two of my closest friends and I have finished our scouting reports. We've checked the almanac to see what kind of weather we'll be operating in. We assessed the effectiveness of our new weapons. We believe that getting in tune with our new weapons before the season starts will put us in a high success likely mode and we are truly looking forward to the season start this year. Our optimism is running high.

It seems like each year, "we win the off-season" only to be gut punched by another year of disappointment on the field. Of course, the ultimate success is to put another Lombardi in the trophy case, but if that's not going to happen, I'd like to hear what a successful season would look like to you. I'd be happy with:

1.) a winning record.
2.) a winning record in the AFC EAST
3.) A TOP 10 offense and top 15 defense.
4.) Making the tournament
5.) very least, being fun to watch as the team nobody wants to face if they have bigger aspirations at their fingertips.
#5 is subjective, so if we achieved 2 of the remaining 4, I'd call it a good year.
Making the playoffs is the only place where success can be discussed. I've seen this team go from 2 wins in 2020 to 7 in 2022 and we thought it was a success only to find out they would never hit 8 wins 4 years later. As a coach myself, accepting mediocrity with barely a winning record or winning more games than last year is such a loser mentality. I've tried to watch the Jets and be happy with being entertained, but I'm only entertained with winning. Now I understand it's the Jets and they have been bad for so long that any amount of success seems like progress. This isn't youth sports. This is a business where winning is the only thing that matters.

Costello of the NY Post seems to think that next year is a 'bridge' season for the Jets, though a bridge to what is undefined. Some talk about a wonderful QB class in the 2027 draft, but when I have asked who these QBs are I am met with the sound of crickets. In any case unless we have a disastrous series of injuries in training camp or Tebow gets into the locker room the week before season start and breaks Geno's jaw, I am expecting enough wins to get into the third quartile of NFL teams. And this will mean that we will not be in position to draft the 'Messiah'. If you were, say, the Cleveland Browns and this obvious winner was there for the #1 pick, you would not part with it no matter what the Jets offered. For my part I want to see competent QB play and if Geno or Klubnik can provide it I will not be set on discarding them in favour of an unknown quantity.
