I heard on the radio (NFL channel) yesterday that if a player changes #s in 2021, then they are required to purchase all of their old # jerseys from NFL Shop's inventory. Can't remember the player's name, but supposedly it would have cost him $1.5 million. There will be no such penalty in 2022.

It would cost Vernon Gholston over $10 million because nobody bought one of his jerseys, so they're all still in inventory.
