The Jets signed CJ Mosley to a five year, $85 million contract on March 14, 2019. Mosley's contract has $43 million fully guaranteed at signing and $51 million in overall guarantees. The guarantee is made up of a $7.5 million signing bonus, a $10.5 million 2019 roster bonus, a $10 million 2020 roster bonus, his 2019 and 2020 salaries, and a partial $8 million guarantee on his 2021 salary. If Mosley is on the roster on the 5th day of the 2020 league year an additional $8 million of his 2021 salary becomes fully guaranteed.
He opted out for this season but got paid his roster bonus which should of been returned. Being that he was on the roster but on the opt out list did his 2021 salary become fully guaranteed? If so, it makes it that much harder to move him.
If there is new covid rules then a pre june trade could $21 M over 5 years if not mistaken. a post june trade would reduce that number to $6 M total in dead loss.
what another buffoonery of a free agent signing, but both Neville Hewitt & Harvey Langi have proven to be worthy of new contracts which opens the door not needing an over priced middle linebacker.
