It's been nearly 48 hours since the news broke that Mac was going all-in on his Jets career by trading up to draft his FQB. Since then, endless articles have been written about how Mac overpaid per the draft points value chart, how many times the Jets have (unsuccessfully) traded up to get their guy, how many other teams traded up with mixed results, et al. I say ENOUGH! We've heard it all. Now it's time to do your job and write about what are the next likely/plausible steps to continue to improve this team. It's time to think rather than hand your job over to ESPN researchers! What may be ahead is of interest, rather than incessantly repeating what has occurred in the past. We're Jets fans! We know what has happened!
- What will Mac do to improve the pass rush? The greatly improved secondary will need the front seven to get to the QB or all that money and resources may be for naught.
- Will Mac add to the receiving corp? I think he needs to. Until Q proves he's healthy and Stewart and Hansen prove their improvement, help is needed. Who knows what is going to happen to Robby Anderson or if he will even be on this team going forward.
- A tight end is needed. Until Leggett even gets on the field, let alone prove he is capable of taking a good portion of ASJ catches, a TE is needed.
- Winters and Beachum can be let go after the season for a savings of almost $15mm in next year's cap. Who will replace them?
