And not to limit it to merely drafting a QB. Trade or draft a QB. For right or wrong, the Jets are content to see if Zach can work out the issues between his ears. I believe there's no other obstacles stopping him other than him. It's not a physical issue. It's that Zach is a mental fruitcake. I believe the Jets have hired the best people to potentially repair him.
That said, if and when AR retires, the Jets will need a QB. Now I ask you, can Zach be trusted? Is it a smart decision to place all your eggs in the Zach basket? To me that's like trusting a submersible at 13,000 feet made of carbon fiber. You do the math.
So I ask you, WHEN will the Jets draft another QB to compete with Zach? He simply cannot be relied even if God forbid Rodgers goes down. So honestly, I would make the case that right now we still need a more suitable second string QB. But a QB competition to play as the backup (and eventually the starter when AR hangs it up), behind the scenes, while AR is the starter is the best approach IMO.
