Where have I missed the boat this year.

This year I am so far off from everyone else for the first time in my life!

It is early & Wilk & Fitz are up in the air but as of today (before the draft) I see this team as 8 & 8.


What am I missing Folks?


My reasons off of a ten win season

1) QB Even if we have Fitz will he be as good as his best year ever.
2) OL is a year older.
3) No TE
4) Will Marshall be as good or will the league catch up with our attack
5) Is Wilk here or not
6) We may be worse at NT
7) Most of our best players are old not counting the DL.
8) Special Teams are still a ?
9) Rb is older but may fit the team better
10 Is Powell really good or did he have a few good weeks last year.
11) Punting?
12 Revis ???? (I think he will be great but it is a ?)
13) Who will replace Cro? Not as worried on this one

14-17 Last year we played weak teams in the out of Div. games this year the teams should be better.


So I hope I am wrong & we could have a great draft etc. but I see 8 wins as of today.

We have our work cut out for us.



That is why I want us to start over A year with a young Qb & young line would be fun to watch for me.. To see this team grow together



Now on the plus side the fish stink & two Ryan's prove that two heads are not always better than one LOL

1) QB play will have more resources out of the backfield to utilize...
2) OL is not done being overhauled, after the draft revisit this issue...
3) No TE in Gailey's offense but we do have a few good H-Backs that are do it all players...
4) the tandem of Marshall & Decker will show up again and be dominate...
5) Even if Wilk is not here we have Williams to pair with Richardson...
6) McLendon is no Snacks but he is a good player that is versatile can play NT or DE...
7) We have key veterans leading the youth movement as they develop...
8) Special Teams is always a ?...
9) Forte will help passing attack and help be a misdirection for defenses to key on...
10 Powell has always been a versatile threat, and last year he got faster something RBs rarely do when they get older...
11) Punting? (no comment)
12 Revis will be Revis, playing bump n run causing timing issues with quarterbacks and receivers...
13) Skrine is the number two heading into camp with Marcus Williams nipping at his chance to steal the job...

Our big contacts are older win now players with little guaranteed money beyond next year. That allows us to be competitive now, but also gives us flexibility to restructure every year. As needs arise we can dump salary and regroup. We have the young guys already, combined with this year's draft, I think we are going in the right direction.

You're missing the point that we are win now and financially flexible starting next year, that's pretty damn good in the nfl. If you expect us to be the Patriots, you're going to be disappointed.

Ok now is next year Ok I will buy that! I do think long term but when I hear now it does not add up.

We don't even have a QB for this year now.

We really need some young guys that are stars not wishing on a star...I hope they come as I have said Big mac is the key to this team now...I need to see much more

We have a punchers chance with geno and petty competing in camp. Fitz would be a much better option. The market has shown no team thinks Fitz is worth what he's asking for. So you remove the big contract from the table. Now it's basically us and Denver interested. We've improved his weapons from last year, abs can offer him stability from moving every year, and the chance to be a ny hero. Along with that comes much more cash than in Denver.

Whatever Denver offers him, will be less than 10 million, based on what we've heard. The jets are at 7-8 now, I see us signing Fitz for 10-12 which is what I predicted at the end of the season. It makes sense for both sides, Fitz is just holding out hope for a big contract, and right now there's no sense of urgency. The only thing that would change is if aqb like Brady had a freak accident, and the team offered Fitz 15 to save their season.

I'd have to say we are built to win now. I cannot see us giving large contracts to Revis, Harris, Skrine. Signing Marshall, Decker, Forte, Fitz (probably) and thinking we are rebuilding. I do not see us getting younger. We will have a tougher schedule and I don't see our OL competing at an average level. 8-8? I see us as a 5 or 6 win team next year.

So & please I don't want to put words in your mouth so explain. Are you saying the Jets are built to win now (this year) but will end up with five or six wins. Then it is not working right?

If you don't see us getting younger then we could be in real trouble.....but on this one I think we will get younger over this year & next from this point (today) forward. Boy I hope so!

You're quite the pessimist.... But being a Cards and Jets fan totally can understand why....
I have been pessimistic for years... trying something new with this optimism

You are right to a degree LOL 47 for the Cards & 68 for the Jets. It does get to you at times but just like my Saint louis Blues I keep hoping. I think the Blues have a chance this year but how many times have I said that LOL.

But I am full of optimism in the long run. I keep it simple!

1) Woody is bad for the Jets

2) Big Mac is a ??? at this time. I like him & think he will be ok & may even be very good but I need time to judge him.

3) Tb could be great I have followed him for a few years & like what he does. But again I may like him & I think he could be a great coach but no guarantees here.

So bottom line is one out of three I feel will be very good or better one unknown & one well we are weak at the top.

It is that simple add in luck & health & you got it. The rest falls into place.


Look on the Cards we had Horton & he built a very good D. He leaves & TB takes over & they are very good. He leaves & the new guy does well. can't always be that way but that shows me a team that knows what they are doing. I am hoping the Jets can do this too.
