Which free agents should be the top priorities?

ESPN -- Well, we already covered the top three -- Fitzpatrick, Wilkerson and Harrison.

The Jets won't have much money left, so they probably will have to say goodbye to running backs Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell and linebacker Demario Davis.

The Jets are looking at a complete rebuild at running back; No. 3 back Stevan Ridley also is a free agent.

In an ideal world, you'd love to keep Ivory and Powell because of their complementary skill sets, but tough decisions have to be made. Ivory was on his way to a monster year, but he ran out of gas.

On Sunday, his role was reduced -- a very curious decision.

It's time for the Jets to use a first- or second-day draft pick on a speed back.

disagree with some of it...

Ivory is not worth it, I mean down the stretch even tho we won 5 straight and he was basically irrelevant when we needed him in week 17 he was too banged up to be the bell cow back we needed...

I agree on bringing back Bilal Powell and I will take some heat for saying this but I believe a full off season to recover he could be that lead back for us, just because he is "jack of all trades" RB that in this game plan is very useful... Now I am not saying that we should bring back Ridley but his style is similar to Powell's and could be useful in a 1-2 punch then either sign a FA like Chris Polk or draft a prospect like Paul James, Rutgers... Need to compliment the game plan and these players will give us just that...

I don't believe they need Davis as his coverage skills are a joke and with him basically removed from every down linebacker that our team played better... Now Erin Henderson should be back but also believe they could do better in free agency acquiring a Max Bullough, even Kelvin Shepard are solid targets that are solid in coverage...

We need to retain Snacks, Pace if he comes back it will be another veteran minimum deal option like last season basically nothing guaranteed a training camp invite for him to prove he can still do it...

Antonio Cromartie is done, at next years current price have to say good bye... Marcus Williams also in his limited role out played Cromartie leading the team in interceptions yes even more than Revis...

They might not be gone any good GM will re-evaluate the contracts with their accountant and ask players to restructure,take a higher signing bonus, guarantee a june roster spot with more money to help the team in fa,give larger work-out bonuses etc etc etc, their are plenty of ways we can get ivory and powell signed.

In my opinion Davis was a liability in coverage and his run support was ok but not great. he needs to go

With the 10,000 d-lineman we have and the few more we all know they will either draft, sign in FAs or trade for, why not? Jets are hurting much more at LB then at d-lineman and Davis is still young and very good. So IMHO its assbackwards to let Davis walk for Harrison but you have your right to your opinion and so do I.

Can't let our true Nose Tackle Damon Harrison who by PFF is the best by far interior defensive lineman that is only getting better week to week go...

As for Demario Davis his speed is the only good thing he has... As for his coverage skills and tackling ability are way under subpar to where they should be... Unless he signs a team friendly contract say good bye now, because he is gone and probably reuniting with Rex in Buffalo, just saying...

Expect ex-Bowles players from the Cardinals and Dolphins could be targeted this free agency... Kelvin Shepard in my view we should of draft back when could be that option... He is a well round Weak Side Middle LB that is good in coverage... Another person could Maccagnan player that played in Michigan State Max Bullough who also is a coverage inside backer... Why Bullough he played alongside Taiwan Jones for two seasons at Michigan State, chemistry should be still there being T. Jones is basically a younger version of David Harris... Could spit out so many options, here but Demario's role was reduced for a reason which puts this statement is a real option: the writing is on the wall...

We need one or two role players that have starting ability to be spot starters in case of injury...

Then we can have one or two players that are developmental players that will get playing time and progress with this foundation in place...

So this organization would be stupid to let Mo Wilk walk...
This organization after each year getting better and the season he just had, would also be stupid to let Damon Harrison go...
Since we just draft Leonard Williams he basically took over Sheldon Richardson's role this entire season so seems to say he is safe...

This leaves Sheldon Richardson on the outs looking in... Trade him for a bunch of picks could be in store... If Bowles a life time 3-4 base defensive minded coach could consider to convert this defense to a nickel base with 3-4 coverage scheme in place and able to utilize many packages with the 3-4 design out of the nickel... Would rather see more 4-3 base but not going to happen even though Kacy Rodgers is very familiar with a 4-3 front coming from Miami...

Fitzpatrick earned another year with an option for 2nd
Harrison is clearly the best nose tackle in the leauge
Wilkerson has earned respect to be retained
Powell fits this system - actually seems that the system compliments all of his attributes
Henderson is a solid role player and depth we need
Ijalana is beloved by the coaching staff
Douzable is that spot starter veteran we need in depth
Bowen like Douzable could also be that veteran depth

after that all other needs can be gotten in free agency and the draft

i like ivory but i think it would be a good decision to let him walk, along with ridley. i'd like to see powell back.

i would be shocked if fitz wasn't back, probably on a multi year contract. the guy may not be young but he's not 40, and i think he's finally found a home.

cromartie hasn't been popular here and for good reason, but he turned it around the last half or so of the year. i wouldn't hate to see him back- at a reduced price. we also have some question marks at corner (mcdougle, milliner). williams should get an opportunity in camp to challenge cro for the starting position opposite revis.

Some of your suggestions are confusing, you think Leonard Williams is safe because he took over Richardson position? He's safe because we just drafted him and he's signed for 5 years.

If we can get multiple high picks for Richardson, sure trade him. But it's not really in the cards. He's close to getting a year suspension if he smokes just one more time. Not many teams are going to trade away their future fir that. And he's the best lineman we have under a contract we can afford.

Richardson could be suspended again and mo has a broken leg, so they are both pretty unlikely trading pieces.

Trading stars in the nfl, isn't typical.
