Assuming QB Jameis Winston and DT Leonard Williams will be gone, which of the following 10 players would make you VERY HAPPY if the Jets draft them at 6 in this month's NFL Draft. (Select all that apply)

to be honest...all those players would bring some sort of excitement..I chose White, because I think he has a better skill set than Cooper from standpoint of size and attacking the ball when contested down the field by cornerbacks,,I think Cooper is great but just think White is more NFL ready...but I would be happy with any of them for the amount of time it took to make the second round selection..each player on list can help a problem, but for any problem solved there are a cpl others to address

I would be happy with Shelton also..I think he will be better than SNACKS and is more powerful, and if took up 2 blockers..EVERY time he is in there and the other team has the QB, you are basically freeing up Richardson and Wilkerson and playing 8 against 10 on defense

I voted for Fowler as I am still unsure about Mariota. Submitted my vote before reading your next post about choosing more then 1.

1. Fowler
2. Beasley
3. Gregory**
4. Cooper
5. Mariota

Choices 1 - 4 would start on day 1. Mariota would sit and wait. ** Needs to stay off the weed, but could be big steal of draft.

Tony Pauline had this on Shelton.

"Danny Shelton tipped the scales at 338 pounds, one less than at the combine. I'm told he also looked good in drills, but the love for Shelton in the outside world is not shared by decision-makers in war rooms, who feel he's a bit one-dimensional in his game."

I voted:

Mariota*
Cooper
White
Scherff*
Fowler

*Mariota only if our scouts believe he's franchise material
*Scherff isn't a sexy pick, but he'd instantly make our o-line very respectable.

I want us to take Mariota if he is there and stash him on the bench until mid season. If we are in contention leave him on the bench, if we have a losing record we play him at that point. If Mariota is gone at 6, then take Cooper/Lee.

You think Shelton will bust or flop in the NFL?

He wouldn't be the first to utterly dominate the Senior Bowl and then fall flat. Coples has accomplished that.

We'll see. I like Shelton a lot and his contribution to plugging the middle and flashing backfield pushes would interest me if we didn't already have a NT. I think the Redskins could still take him even after getting pot roast Knighton. Chicago has always been linked to him as well but there's no unanimous chatter for him. Some like him, some don't.

As for this team, no way. You're right in that Snacks is an absolute keeper. He's already proven himself to be an elite NT in this league. You don't make the team better by kicking out such a player. Get a pass rusher or elite WR if you are so inclined.

I'm not so sure I would characterize Coples' performance as falling flat. Uneven yes, but has shown flashes of being potentially dominant. Ryan misused Coples throughout his tenure, but when he has put him where he belongs (and not out on the perimeter playing CB!) he has played very well. I think his production will swell with better secondary play.

Back to #6 pick - If we go OLB/DE, I'm leaning heavily towards Dupree. Great fit, athleticism, and production in all phases of his game, just didn't have the best showcase at UK. The guy I'm not at all sold on is Shane Ray. He appears to be a polarizing prospect in many scout's and talking-heads' eyes; some have him at 6th best player in the draft while others feel his assets will be neutralized at the next level. I'd stay away from Ray, as the 6th pick needs to be as much a guarantee as possible. So for me it's either Dupree/Fowler, Cooper/White, or even an OL like Scherff.

One thing about White that I never realized till last night reading another draft sight, is that his stats could be skewed a little since he played this year in the equivalent of the ARENA league...

Look at stats last year
SCORING OFFENSE Pts Avg/G
1. Baylor 586 48.8
2. TCU 562 46.8
3. Oklahoma 467 38.9
4. Kansas State 430 35.8
5. West Virginia 398 33.2
6. Texas Tech 366 30.5
7. Oklahoma State 364 27.4
8. Iowa State 278 23.2
9. Texas 271 22.6
10. Kansas 214 17.8

SCORING DEFENSE Pts Avg/G
1. TCU 20.3
2. Kansas State 21.8
3. Texas 23.2
4. Baylor 24.2
5. Oklahoma 24.8
6. West Virginia 26.2
7. Oklahoma State 384 32.0
8. Kansas 33.2
9. Iowa State 38.8
10. Texas Tech 41.2

Granted each team has a cpl cupcakes to avg in..but just something to think

BUT he does have the size and speed to succeed

I voted Cooper. If Mariota is there I would want him over any defensive player. Sherff may be high at 6, but if can have the impact of the rookie in Dallas, then it's surely worth it. I just hope BPA is an offensive guy.

So just ignore any needs there might be on defense as we've drafted too many defensive players in recent round one history. And ignore the fact that we have competent starters in those same positions you mention. It's time for an offensive player no matter what. Got it. It's an approach but not one that convinces me. In fact, you admit that we should reach to attain this goal. All right. Count me out.

Erick Flowers massive OT from Miami visiting Jets this week..I wouldn't mind him..but not at 6 I would think and don't think he will be there 37...seems like a trade down guy if they pull one off

OK. I give up. What's with those percentages listed on the poll results? They are way over 100%.

You can vote for more than 1 person, so the percentages are the percentages of voters who voted for that player

If 20 people voted in the poll and 10 voted for Beasley, he would have a 50% total
