So here we are all wondering who will be our QB at the beginning of the season and beyond. Of course most, if not all of us would choose to have Watson but that may come at a hefty price that not all of us are willing to pay. So I came up with a thread and poll to see where we are on this choice of QB scenarios for next year and beyond. I personally would love to have Watson and that would be my first choice but to give up most to everything we got for him, I'm not cool with.
We still need to have some trade value to build around him and yes we have lots of money under the cap but he will eat up a decent amount of that, if I'm correct. So can we actually sign as many free agents as we would like to build around him and make up for all the trade value we'll lose trading for him? I'm not quite sure which one I'll choice right now but I'm leaning towards trading for Watson at a reasonable trade haul. As a matter of fact I know that's the one I'll choose.
Problem with that is the Texans are going to ask for nothing at all reasonable and they shouldn't. A QB of Watson stature comes with a heavy cost and his true value can't be undervalued. Watson is a top 5-7 QB at worst IMO. You have Mahomes of course, A. Rodgers, R. Wilson and MAYBE Brady that is STILL better than him. I'll give Watson the clear edge over Prescott and J. Allen and those are the only other two that come close to him IMO. L. Jackson, Mayfield and Stafford are clearly not on his level.
So if your agreeing with me on the level of QB Watson stands, than you'll probably agree that the Texans have all rights to asks for a ridiculous amount of trade value for him and if they do, I don't think Joe D. is going to go for that and I don't think I'd be cool with it either. The Texans stated that they expect Watson to be their QB for the future but I'm not quite sure they have the power over that. If he pushes the issue they will have to trade him but at what cost to us and will you be good with it?
