Some guy that had 7 other tryouts before we signed him

Did he have seven other tryouts? Or were 7 other teams interested in him?
I thought I read the latter, and that's a whole different thing. He was an undrafted player who tore up the Canadian football league at 25. Has good size and projects as a pass rushing OLB, something we desperately need.
Low risk, potentially high reward. Why not?

I like how Mac realizes how slow and old this team is and is adding much needed youth and speed.
why are you so fixated on how many teams worked him out??http://jetswire.usatoday.com/2016/02/05/report-jets-sign-cfl-star-freddie-bishop-to-two-year-deal/
Worked out for 7 teams before we signed him
The Jets gave him a 2 year contract.... That says other teams wanted him.... If he was discarded after 7 tryouts no purpose in giving him 2 years....
Hopefully he is a find
Yeah, signing a guy to a 2 year deal usually means the team sees more than just potential in a player. Just because he had seven tryouts doesn't mean seven teams necessarily turned him away. For all we know, he may have been looking for a good fit, and wasn't simply trying to sign wherever he could.
I'm not suggesting that the Jets have found their solution to a pass rushing OLB. Let's get real. He thrived in the CFL. That's not the same as the NFL. But the stats do suggest that the guy has a knack for getting to the QB, and that's a position (edge rusher) that the Jets need some help at. Pace's time here was admirable, but it's time for him to go. It's time for some young blood to get a chance. Mauldin and Bishop are a good start, but we need to add another player or two via the draft or FA at OLB.

i believe mac has earned the benefit of doubt & i'm quite sure this is cap friendly deal for us..
i like the pick until proven otherwise..
it's a given the NFL is a vastly superior talent pool compared to the CFL..its a "ho hum "signing to me. Bishop had 11 sacks last year. Former Jet, and current CFLer, Jamal Westerman had 17 last year
