Well we know one thing for sure, Devin Smith is not in the mix... He is likely to receive an injury settlement for his trouble of not being able to stay healthy... 2 ACL injuries in three years not good, worse that it is the same ACL... The next is veteran Eric Decker currently rehabbing two injuries... If anything Decker at this point in time could be considered on the bubble...
Two draft selections likely to make the final cut... Hansen and Stewart both bring different much needed aspects to an offense that was anemic last year... Hansen has been compared as Decker 2.0 while Stewart could be what Devin Smith was suppose to be a vertical option...
One thing is for certain Quincy Enunwa has earned his spot on this and expect before the season ends he will receive a contract extension being that 2017 is his contract year...
So what about last year's trio, well of the three the only one that looks to be a lock is Robby Anderson and he could be vying for a starting role... Charone Peake was steadily improving throughout the year becoming an intricate part of the offense and special teams... So what about Jalin Marshall? Jalin impressed in spurts but one has to wonder during those spurts was it then JMarsh was taking Aderol? So at best after his suspension he should be a viable candidate for the practice squad...
We have four additional receivers brought in to compete but the likely battle for the final active roster spot should come down between Frankie Hammond and Quinton Patton... Experience has to go to Hammond, but Patton offers a little more quickness and overall athleticism... This group won't be the sexiest of players but if done right by the front office we could be able to create multiple match-ups against our entire schedule...
Morton will run three and four receiver sets but doesn't automatically mean three to four receivers... Options like newcomer draft prospect Leggett will bring diversity to receiver core along with a few other tight end prospects on the roster like Brian Parker and/or Braedon Bowman... We all know Quincy Enunwa did all of his damage over the middle and in the slot but can be that guy on the outside? Could see this lineup Robby Anderson as the No. 1 with Quincy Enunwa as No. 2 then lining up Ardarius Stewart in the slot, then when we add that additional fourth receiver it could be either or Patton/Hammond or Hansen not to mention one of three H-Back/Tight Ends...
Gonna be a fun training camp/preseason to watch this unfold...
