WHO will be the Jets starting QB in 2017?

My guess would be someone like Tony Romo. I know that sounds awful. But Mac and Bowles unwillingness to give the young guys like Petty and Hack a chance at starting is very telling to me. That tells me that they don't trust Petty to make sound decisions with the football. Where Hack barely even saw the field in the preseason makes me think they definitely do not trust him. It tells me that the Jets starting QB for 2017 is not currently on the roster.

IMO, Mac will go after a veteran to hedge the gap to guys like Petty or Hack. That's where a guy like Romo comes into play. Romo's career in Dallas is over. There's no way he'll be retained in Dallas now that Dak Prescott has done so well. Dallas has found their QB of the future in Prescott. Romo is now expendable. I saw on the news the other night that one of Romo's likely landing spots will be the Jets.

I swear only the Jets could do something like this? What's the betting line on how quickly he ends up on IR playing behind this shit OL? Or just sprains his vagina as a result of a non contact injury?

This is why Woody sucks as an owner. In all the years he's been here, he's developed one QB and he couldnt stand it: Mark Sanchez.

I feel Maine is on to something. I think its Woody not Bowles/Mac that wants to WIN NOW. He hates having a QB develop. The mere fact that Todd is "thinking" about the possibility of Fitz starting IMHO is all Woody. As opposed to allowing Petty and Hack take the rest of the snaps this season and grow from their experiences.

I honestly feel Woody will make a huge push for Romo or Jay Cutler this off season. Would not surprise me. I would be pissed but as usual, i'll be glued to the TV watching these numskulls over and over again.

Of course Woody wants to win because nobody wants to watch a loser. Romo would be winning in Dallas just like Dak. I like Romo, but this team sucks from top to bottom. Blow it up and let Hack or Petty play.

Actually Jets hasnt had a QB since Namath. Right now Petty & Draft a QB in first round next year & better be right or Mikey M. is gone. I say that after him Drafting in 2nd round Hackenburg who isnt playing right now but is a superstar QB per Jets. Odd they say how good Hack in sac is doing but not on the field? I think he is a MAJOR Project with bad feet hence sending screen passes 10ft over WR's head at scrimmage line & other issue is accuracy & reading Defenses. I watched College tapes & seen Hackensac look right at unblocked DE & snap the ball. Flashbacks of Sanchez..lol . So next year Petty or Drafted 1st round pick QB & forget Romo & Hackensac . Jets must be able to Draft & develop our own QB's & not rely on other teams that know how to draft QB's & take their old QB's like Farve & Romo.

will the power/powers that be roll those dice is the question.. i doubt it..

i can easily envision us making a serious run at romo, who i'm a fan of, BTW..

they will bring Geno back on a 1 year deal to compete with Petty... Hackenberg will remain 3rd string for another year...

What does it matter who's going to be the starting quarterback, this team sucks regardless. It will probably take quite some more years and I don't know what it's gonna take to change that but we apparently just don't seem to have it. I don't think our starting quarterback is on this team anyway but if he is, I'm sure Hack or Petty will be destroyed by TB, Gailey and Mac. The Jets just seem to be a very unfortunate team.

Romo would be pricey, could literally retire any moment, and could go on ir again. Then petty is starting again, that's not a bridge,it's desperation. Romo would never want to play here with our o line,he's smarter than that. I think he goes to Denver.

I like cutler as a bridge. He's generally healthy, much younger, has all of the tools, just needs a defense and a running game, which we are currently building. The real insight would be Marshall and Forte. Did they like playing with cutler or is that the reason Marshall fled Chicago? Clearly Marshall vouched for Forte.

I think Romo is a no go, cutler is best available, what's the alternative? Geno, wheadon, Fitz? Cutler needs an offensive coordinator that gets his game. I like norv turner and cutler together. Norv has proven to adapt to his talent and built a good team in San Diego.

I think cutler can thrive in the same system as petty and hack, very important for a bridge.

If mac is secretly pissed at Bowles handling of this team, I'd be all for hiring norv as head coach too.

Norv has sucked as a HC each time he's been given the opportunity....I'll pass on Norv as HC

I think he did a great job in San Diego, and they have never replicated his success there since he left.

He had one maybe 2 good year as a HC in San Diego.. and 15 years as HC he's had a winning record 6 times... Went to the playoffs 4 times. His best team was the 2009 Chargers 13-3 and got bounced by; yeah you know who.

I'll take Todd Bowles and his learning curve and see what happens over the next year or 2 with him over Norv and his same ole show as a HC

Ideally I'd like norv to replace Gailey.

An interesting and not so crazy thought. Romo, IMHO is a crazy thought.
depends on who you ask, including smith & his agent..

unless alienating 95℅ of your fan base is the goal, bringing smith back over romo (with either on a one year deal) would be epic fail..

i don't think gmf was being serious, BTW.. or if he was, he was goofin' on how only the jets would do something like this..

actually I was being dead serious...

a one year deal for Geno Smith a QB that knows the system because it is unlikely that Gailey or Bowles are gone this off season... a one year deal $4 Million with incentive or bonus if he is named starter of $2 -3 Million is not crazy BUT smart...

Geno Smith lately hasn't done anything off the field to suggest otherwise... Do I like Geno, no but compared to all the other options out there he is the wise decision... From a football decision, he is a more costly option... A veteran that has been in this system for two years, can compete against Bryce Petty for the starting job, knowingly at any time whomever wins the job can be replaced by the said second option... Gives this regime time to develop Christian Hackenberg...

To look at this another way, yes Romo would be an awesome thing here in New York but really he isn't mobile and is one shot from retirement... He is an injury prone player with upside the only problem we have a problem with our offensive line and it will cost big dollars in free agency to fix it for a qb like Romo... We can continue developing linemen with mobile esq quarterbacks like Geno, Petty and even Hackenberg...

I would rather go after Nick Foles or Mike Glennon... Smith is not for the NY market...
