Who will be the lead back?

Start of the season projection is Tevin because he is familiar with the game plan but he is injury prone so it is only a matter of time that someone needs to be ready to be the no.1, but who? And Why?

Ty is closer to Tevin's total makeup that he will become the no. 1... Carter for this season will be more that 3rd down back... Perine vs J. Adams for goal line and short yardage situations not to mention cleanup duties in the 4th...

I think very highly of Ty going back to college where I saw all his games at Maryland. Really special ability to make one cut and then have a burst through the hole.

It will probably be Carter, but I'm not sure the notion of a "lead back" is that important in this system. It's not as though any are a true bell cow.

If they continue with the "49ers way" of doing things it's going to be running back by committee. It makes sense in that if you have one back that gains 1500 yards he's going to want a new contract or be traded. But if you have 4 backs that combine for 1500 yards you avoid all the drama. It will also result in fresher backs come (dare I say it?) playoff time.

I can't see it being Perine. He has pretty fresh legs, but he's also not the best RB for this system. The others, including the veterans, are more suited for this offense.

That burst is what stood out to me in that 100 yard game he had, he showed that burst repeatedly.

Really we dont have that big hard hittin RB that inflicts pain to defenses trying to arm tackle. We got run around chase me RBs with no threat of running up middle for positive yards wearing out defenses. Unless we brought some of those Great fantastic out of the box run plays like 49ers ran
