I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a breakout year for Quinton Coples in Todd Bowles pass rushing scheme.

We don't have to predict the number, but what the heck, I'll say 14 Sacks.

The problem with your premise is that a rushing coples leaves the middle of the field open for teams to dink and dunk, since he is less than average in coverage. I think sacks leader will be a toss up between mo and Sheldon, the difference being clean up sacks.

I could be wrong, but from what I've been able to gather about Todd Bowles, he essentially runs a base nickel so his OLB's don't have to concern themselves too much with coverage and are used way more to get after the QB. I've read he uses an awful lot of dime packages too, but mostly nickel. I think he's gonna turn Coples loose on the QB more than Rex ever did.

The good part for our defensive players is that Bowles, based on history, will fit his defensive game plans around the strengths of the players he has and we won't have to ruin the talents of a Coples, an Allen, a Pryor or others by desperately trying to squeeze them into some rigidly fixed remake of Pop's 46 Defense

You mean the 46 that Bowles uses a ton of?

Well everybody is hoping to see how coach uses his new toys. But I think one of the premises of his strategy, is you don't know where the pressure is coming from. And I think we will see coples and Leonard Williams moved into 4 man fronts randomly. That is why I think we see a lot of cleanup sacks this year.

Coples and Williams scaring the qb into a mo bear hug. But the addition of Williams is why I think coples rushes less than Bowles planned before the draft. The qb will have 2.5 seconds to throw before getting slammed. With our secondary, a deep pass under distress is a terrible idea.

I think coples waits 3 seconds to cover te's etc then rushes on delay, as his coverage responsibility gets picked up by the secondary and he frees up. Or maybe we had this Javon Kearse freak the whole time, and we didn't know it because he's out of position.

Please show me one time where he ever mentioned a "46" frozen in time like the one the Bills will be forcing on their D this year

Surprised to see Coples getting so much love. My vote goes to Mo -- breakout year this year with 12+ sacks.

I voted for Sheldon Richardson. I did not realize that Sheldon had 8 sacks last season. He gets a lot of pressure. As good as Mo is, I think Sheldon is a slightly better pass rusher specifically.

With that said, it would not surprise me at all if Wilkerson had 12 sacks this season. The guy is an animal.
