There is no question about what the Jets’ biggest area of need is. Douglas needs to rebuild the offensive line. The Jets could have as many as four new starters in 2020. The offensive line last season was atrocious for most of the year and a direct reason why Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell both struggled.

The Jets could potentially use their first two draft picks on offensive linemen. At No. 11, they should be able to draft one of the top tackles. There is a group of five tackles viewed as the top tier who will be on display this week — Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, Alabama’s Jedrick Wills, Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs and Houston’s Josh Jones.

In the second round, the Jets could take a center or guard. LSU’s Lloyd Cushenberry, Wisconsin’s Tyler Biadasz and Temple’s Matt Hennessy could be available.

A great deal depends on whom we sign in free agency, which is why mock drafts prior to free agency make no sense to me. Ideally, we will sign at least one OL starter and have more flexibility in the draft. Assuming that we do draft an offensive lineman in the first round, there seem to be four studs projected to go early. History tells us that two will be stars, one will be ok, and one will be a bust. I’m glad that we will have a former offensive lineman making the choice. I’m guessing that Two of the four will be available to us.
Sack, have you studied these players?

I hear an awful lot about the top 4 tackles in the upcoming draft, but very little about both Jones (UH) and Jackson (USC). From what I read both project to blindside tackles in the NFL. The issue may be they are both not quite as ready as the big four. That being said, why not not trade down a bit if possible, grab one of them mid to later 1st and sign Beachum for the short term. That way maybe we pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd for one of our many needs.

Sounds like he knows New York. It certainly is a tough on players sort of place but he sounds ready to deal with it. I watched his combine press conference. I hope the Jets do get him. He's big enough that Sam could hide in his shadow and not without talent either.

As much as I hope I'm wrong, I think that he will be long gone by our #11 pick.

You could very well be right but it doesn't hurt to be optimistic. There's a pretty good chance we get one of the top 5 tackles so I'm saying my prayers that we do.
