Why do the Patriots continue to cheat, even post SpyGate??

I'm gonna try and make some sense of this for you, and you'll want to read this post because I think I have it figured out, and it goes way beyond Belichick being a pathological cheater and finding his soul-mate in Tom Brady. Thats certainly part of it, but that doesn't even come close to explaining how two potential HOFers can continue to lie and cheat and behave as if the rules do not apply to them, essentially jeopardizing everything if indeed the rules did apply to them, and thats the real key to this thing.

That said, I'm going to give you an analogy that perfectly describes Belichick and Brady.

When I was a kid growing up in NYC there was a lot of MAFIA back in those days on the lower east-side, and thats back when the MAFIA was at the peak of its strength, before the next generation of coke-heads and snitches, combined with the determination of law enforcement, blew it all up.

Well back then there were always certain kids whose daddies were made members of the MAFIA and they acted as if the normal rules (be polite or risk getting punched in the face) didn't apply to them. They were always a little more arrogant and a little less hesitant to insult other kids.

But then there were the kids whose daddies were high level MAFIA figures; Bosses, Underbosses and Capo's, and those kids were usually the worst, impossible to be around, because they really felt bulletproof and were essentially the schoolyard bullies who knew there was zero chance of retribution.

There wasn't even the risk that someone might stand up to them. In that kind of neighborhood, in the 60's and 70's, everybody knew who their daddies were and that it was basically a death sentence if you did anything to hurt them, but the important thing is, they knew it too, and that emboldened them to be incorrigible, just the nastiest guys you could be around, even with guys who could twist them into a pretzel if daddy wasn't their daddy.

That explains Belichick & Brady to a tee, particularly Belichick. No normal person would continue to cheat after SpyGate, nor would any pathological cheater if he knew it could cost him his career and everything he has worked for, but SpyGate sent the opposite message to Belichick. When Goodell burned the evidence and essentially slapped him on the wrist, in deference to his BFF Bob Kraft, in Belichick's mind that told him he is bulletproof, that his football daddy (Bob Kraft) makes him invincible and untouchable, that emboldened him to become even more incorrigible ... and make no mistake about it, when he skates on DeflateGate too, and he will, that will make him even more incorrigible, again reenforcing the notion that so long as Bob Kraft and Roger Goodell are on this earth, he can break any rule he damn well pleases.

People might make a fuss about it, but ultimately he will go unharmed because his daddy is there to protect him.

Its that simple.

pretty much that and greed they like the feeling of winning and being they have not won anything since spygate ie: superbowl that feeling grows even more. I just wish the rest of the country would see it and demand they return the 3 sb's already won and send out new SB rings to those losing teams. Pats are lucky I am not president of the united states.

they don't need to because of the cheating they can pick up anyone in the draft and he will fit in and play well cheating does that for you.

And then they will do something like what they did to honor the Bengal player's daughter. Or helping with the Boston bombing. Its all bullshit and a scam/cover-up.

I'm not so sure they are going to get away with it this time Ham.

Using your Mafia analogy. The mob was impregnable as long as they stayed in their sphere of influence. In the neighborhood, and dealing with corrupt politicians, and cops. (NFL network and ESPN)

If they stepped out of that sphere, and beat up a senator's kid, who wasn't in bed with them, and as happened when inexplicably Robert Kennedy turned on them, and our good friend Joe Valachi started singing. Making the Cosa Nostra a household term, and exposing them for what they were. Shinning the light into their dark secret world, over a period of time their power was greatly reduced. They are still there, but they ain't what they used to be.

This scandal couldn't have happened at a worst time. The light of the world is focused on them. Every news agency in watching during Super Bowl week. Both CNN, and Fox news carried Lil Bill's and Brady's presser.

The average, casual fan is being exposed to the corruption of the NFL. They are off a very bad year exposing many warts. Many of the other families (other owners) are tiring of the cheating, much in the way the families tired of Joe Columbo bringing unwanted light on them.

Goodell has to do something to get the integrity of the NFL back , other wise the NFL is going to fall to the level of WWF. Much in the way the Mafia has fallen to the level of the Blood and the Crypts

You know what, flagreen, you might be right.

That post makes a lot of sense. If the NFL operates like a crime family, and in some respects it does, then the one thing nobody is protected from is costing the family money and putting the whole operation in jeopardy. That said, Belichick & Brady just did the worst thing you can do to the NFL in the minds of the owners, the other families so to speak, which is to make a mockery of their marquee event, America's unofficial favorite secular holiday, the Superbowl. These two clowns actually turned THE SUPERBOWL into an afterthought, and that has to have the other owners fuming, so I wouldn't be surprised if they demand Belichick's head on a stick over this, though they will probably wait until after the Superbowl.

Well if the first owners meeting after the Super Bowl is held at Apalachin, NY, look out. :)

Look at Green-Ellis' fumble rate with the Pats and then post Pats. They were probably deflating the ball for years

Note: Posting this twice because what more can I really about this topic then this.

This is crazy that people are focusing on this so much in a 30 something blowout game. Trust me I get it, it brings up the thought of how many other games did they possible do this in that they won by a TD or less. The game before against the Ravens would probably be the most blatant one if they did that but we will never know I guess. We all know the Pats are cheaters in one way or another but as long as they never get caught red handed enough for the commissioner or whomever to truly do something about it, why are really discussing this period. As long as Seattle beats them by 50 and hopefully they will, that is karma it itself.

Because it's cheating. And they have a history of cheating. If don't understand how serious that is, then I don't know what else to say

good catch wonder in general how the pats as a team fumbled this past year compared to other teams or other years

They fumbled a lot less. There is a post in one of the threads about Pats cheating on JN that shows a graph analyzing the fumble rates of all 32 teams for the last 5 years. The Pats fumble rate is 50% better than the next closest team's fumble rate.

I understand it's cheating and how serious it is. All I'm saying is the league will never be able to prove this beyond a reasonable doubt so there won't be any real punishment. Until that happens in this or any other situation they cheat with, we are all talking out our asses here. Hopefully Bowles can get this team straight real soon where we start beating their asses consistently whether their cheating or not. Also I want them to get crushed in this SB. Not just beat but crushed. Probably won't happen but that's what I'm hoping for.

You're wrong. It's already been proved. Balls were deflated. Ignorance is no excuse. They just won't punish now , to ensure the game goes off as planned. The punishment will be severe, just delayed to protect the cash

Right. And the results contained in the article I posted a link to further up this thread seem to imply the Pats have been deflating balls for at least the last 5 years. This year they had zero fumbles at home. Zero!
